Flush success!!!EXCELLENT! Just got 2017 Stingray back from dealer after the new flush, transmission oil, and reprogram. The transmission is perfect. No shudder, no hard shifts. It didn’t run this well when I took delivery 38000 mi. ago. Could not be happier. Thank you GM. It’s about time.

Could you post your work order so we can see what they actually did, the work order & P/N's would be interesting.
Thanks.

I found this banter on the DealersEdge site. The noteworthy comment is below. The entire conversation is at: https://forums.dealersedge.com/viewt...11352&start=10
The info is all in December's Emerging Issues in Center of Learning, course 10218.12V. Quote and bolded bits from the transcript below:
Re: DEXRON HP
The info is all in December's Emerging Issues in Center of Learning, course 10218.12V. Quote and bolded bits from the transcript below:
“The quart bottle will not have a GM part number on the bottle. The bottle however has been updated. The back ground of the bottle where it states “Synthetic LV ATF HP” has changed from black to blue. (show bottles) The license number on the back of the bottle has changed to J-62120. The six pack packaging has been changed from black script on the white box to blue script on the white box.”
So the new formula bottle will not have a new part number the only change is the background of the bottle where it states “Synthetic LV ATF HP” was changed from black to blue. What was GM thinking! Talk about a high probability of a dealer using the old formula instead of the new! Stupid....Stupid....Stupid.
I made note of this so when I have my fluid changed I will insist on seeing the bottles BEFORE the mechanic does the flush.

Well, fingers crossed... I am scheduled to get the new fluid flush next week. I have had every fix done that they could come up with in the last year with poor results.
1.Flush
2.Torque Converter replaced
3.Transmission Valve body replaced
4.Now the "Super Flush"
But I have hope this time!

I have a appointment set for next week to have my transmission flushed with the new fluid and procedure. (from the latest January 2019 bulletin) I will post a copy of the service paperwork after it is done. I will keep my fingers crossed that this takes care of the shudder, the last flush in October didn't fix it.

Is there any way to know what dealers are doing this service bulletin yet? Would like to find a good service department in Houston and get it done. I have had the shudder issue mildly for months now but have been waiting for this latest revision to be released before getting it done. Would now like to do so.
Between drivetrain warranty and GMEPP its covered at GM expense right? (3/36 is over on mine).

Unfortunately my car started to shudder about a month ago at about 21,500 miles. My local dealer told me they have the new TSB won't do the service under warranty since my ECU has a custom tune, and my cost will be $870. Still debating on whether to get it flushed or get a Circle D pro series torque converter. Just out of curiosity I did some searching for the new fluid and it looks like Summit racing has it already. It doesn't have the GM quart bottle number stated in the announcement (19417577 ), and when I called Summit, they had no idea if it was indeed the new correct fluid. But the bottle looks to have the correct color and number on the back label. They call it "Mobil 1 Synthetic LV ATF HP 124715". Here is the link:

I would be suspect on the Summit Racing inventory, solely because reports have the new fluid only being available in 55 Gal drums until March. And all inventory supposedly headed to high volume A8 dealers until then.
Also the new tool? I suspect a flush can be done the old way; dropping the pan. The new tool is likely to cut tech time on the flush given how often GM is having to foot the bill for a flush. All this is one of the reasons I just bought a 5 year extended warranty on my 10,000 mile 27 month old Z. Now I can keep the car and not worry about what is the reality; that the TC is not designed in such a way it will last and that ultimately all the TCs on A8s will have to be replaced several times given enough miles.

GM says in one of its dealer notes of Jan '19;
"The new fluid quart bottles have a blue label". ----- Summit pics of bottles show a blue label on the fluid bottle
"The new fluid bottles have license J-62120 on the back label" ----- Summit pics of bottles show a J-62120 license number on the back of the bottle.
Up to you to draw your own inferences.

GMEPP Warranty for transmission issues
I don't currently have a shuddering problem (39K miles) but I do have the problem where transmission takes a while to go into gear after it has been sitting for a while. There is a TSB for this but it requires removing the transmission to replace the stator. I was going to wait for the dust to settle on the shuddering issue. I don't want to have my cars guts ripped out twice if I can avoid it (the jury is still out on the latest fluid fix).
My powertrain warranty is up in a year but I have a GMEPP warranty that is good until 2024. However, the GMEPP warranty specifically excludes pre-existing conditions. Will GMEPP cover the stator replacement if I don't get it done under the powertrain warranty?
Bigger question. Would GMEPP consider the transmission shudder a pre-existing condition if it existed but was not corrected during the powertrain warranty period?

I had the new 2019 flush procedure done on my car today, seems fine on the way home but time will tell. I had the dealer print out a copy of TSB 18-NA-355 dated Jan 17, 2019 and it shows you get a triple flush with a new flush machine to make sure all the fluid is replaced along with a new type of fluid. I scanned the TSB to PDF but the file size is 7.5.MB and CF won't let me upload anything over 5 MB so I cannot post it. (the TSB is 29 pages) I did post the service slip showing the work was done and it has the new part number for the fluid and references document 5181942 which is TSB # 18-NA-355.

If you can email the TSB to me I will break it up into smaller parts and post it. jcthorne@thornolis.com

MA Z06 - Many thanks for posting that document!!!!!!!! This is most informative for the forum.
What I found most interesting, is that the new procedure is still the triple flush! (for corvettes that is)

After reading the new TSB numerous times I'm a little baffled that on the 'Corvette' section they say to remove and drain the ATF from the transmission pan. Usually you get ~5 qts out. Then they say to put back in 8 qts ??? How can this amount even go in? Could this be a misprint? I would expect the excess to come out the overflow tube or blow out a seal when you run the engine and shift through the gears. ??????
