Good Question

2015 Z51 A8 15,100 miles. Brought in to the Corvette Tech at my dealership today. Did the triple flush for the shuddering. Said to drive it 3-400 miles and see it noticeably getting better. This tech said 99% of the shuddering is helped by the flush. Covered by powertrain warranty. So, we'll see what happens, fingers crossed no torque converter problems.

Dropped mine off today for the TC replacement. Dealer said they are doing 3 or 4 a week. My car was built Sept 2015. He suggested just doing the flush and I said I wanted the TC changed out and he said ok. With them doing that many per week that suggests they are having trouble with more than just Corvette and Camaro. When I get it back I’m thinking this may be the end of my association with GM.

How many days does the TC replacement take? What makes the new TC better than the old one? Or is this the new norm with C7 A8 corvettes, replace TC every 15000 miles.

Extended warranty I believe just covers bumper to bumper. This problem falls under the power train warranty. 5 years or 60000miles. After that it’s your problem.

Had my trans replaced with a remanned unit two week ago due to harsh engagement of D from P. Two weeks later and a few hundred miles the remanned unit is worse than what I had. It still engages D abruptly from P roughly half the time with no rhyme or reason as to when it will do it. It used to only engage roughly when cold. Now it will do it cold or hot when it wants.

I also have an issue where downshifts into odd gears are harsh if under 4000 rpm. I have noticed that there is no rev match upward when engaging the odd gear. Engaging even gears is smooth with an appropriate rev match.

Guess it's time to take it back yet again. This will mark the 5th time in two months.

2016 z-51, purchased July 16, built Dec. 15. Was all good until about 18,000, miles last summer. Shuddering and tach fluctuations. Dealer did the triple flush. Seemed to be significantly improved.

Now has 27,000 miles on the clock. Shuddering and tach fluctuations started intermittent about a month ago. Last week started flaring and banging 1-2 shift when cold. In to the dealer dealer today. Dealer is ordering new torque converter. Not very pleased about it, but what can you do. Spoke with vet tech today, he’s done several converters on vettes already (small town), which makes me somewhat relieved as I’m not the first try test case for him. He’s also their main transmission tech, and he says the issue is getting more frequent with other cars with the A-8. Replaced a camero converter last week and plenty of triple flush. I’m guessing the issue isn’t going to go away swapping parts.

6 years left on power train and extended warranty, will probably dump the car well before then, sadly. It’s the wife’s daily driver, plus road touring car, don’t want to start getting worried about being stranded on the road with a grenaded transmission.

I just got a 2017 C7 M7 so browsing through this forum and hit this thread. Hard to believe that in this modern era GM could be building transmissions like this. Hoping on hope that my car is reasonably reliable as I really enjoy driving it. If I end up facing these types of issues the car will be gone quickly. I have a friend who was about to buy a new A8 C7 and is no longer interested after hearing about this issue so this is costing GM sales. Have they even issued a TSB let alone a full recall on this?

A 2018 or 2019 model is probably relatively safe.

You have a manual, the problems being discussed in this thread refer to the automatic (A8).

Then your post makes no sense. Why worry about your M7 in an A8 problem thread?

They wont' issue a recall unless safety is an issue.
