I have a two month old C7 Grand Sport with an intermittent rattle in the left passenger climate vent. When the car went in for its 500 mile O/C the dealer could not find where it was coming from and marked it NTF. Anyone out there that has had the same issue.
I've read about vents rattling on here. Does it stop if you move the shutter or hold it? I remember people wedging paper in the vent to keep it quiet, I think most were fixed under warranty. I'm not sure if you have the same issue though.
I had that issue and the fix for me and two owners at a cars and coffee was to apply three layers of double sided 3M tape on the side of the dash. When the door closes it puts a little pressure on the dashboard and the rattle in the center vent was gone. I know it doesn't make sense in that the pressure isn't applied directly to the center vent, but it worked.
I have a rattle in my dash as well (750 miles on 16 Z-51). Been driving me nuts trying to find it. I dont think mine is in the vent. I will try this fix when I get a chance.
My unexpected cure for minor dash rattles was installing a DSC Sport MSRC controller. I'm not kidding, it is so much better at adjusting the damping rates to absorb road imperfections than the OEM MSRC controller, all the little rattles I occasionally had previously are gone.
when you hear the rattle, apply some pressure with your thumb to the HUD switch panel, if the noise goes away, it's in there. I tried to find the source of a rattle for months in my '15, and by accident i was adjusting the HUD coincidentally at the same time as teh rattle and it went away from the pressure. I traded the car before fixing it, but it was definitely involved in teh rattle.
Here's a link to this the vent rattle topic along with my personal "Band-Aid" fix. You'll note if you read through this thread that the Dealer eventually replaced the vent assembly under warranty. Hope this info helps. Good Luck!

Want to learn more about this. Is this the update on the magna ride update?

I got lucky. I was looking all over for my rattle and it ended up being noise coming from my garage door opener that was attached to sun visor.
