Trading in a C6Z for a Stingray?

Trading in a C6Z for a Stingray?
One of our sister stores recently took in a '14 Stingray w/ 14K on the odo, & in 3LT trim. The last owner did some appearance mods that seem easy enough to remove at a later date.
I can provide the sale link for the car at request; I don't want to come across as someone trying to push the car.
I currently have a '08 Z06 2LZ that I do enjoy a lot; it was the result of some years of work to acquire her. She went through some heavy mechanical repairs in Feb. that made me question if she was worth keeping, but driving her is a smile-inducing emotion.
So, my question to you all is, would it be worth entertaining the dealer with an appraisal and seeing if essentially, a "swap" deal could be done with a little money on my end? I would ask the question in the C6 section, but I feel there would be a bit of strong bias to not even consider the C7. But, beyond the fact it's not a Z06, the C7 arguably has its own perks such as no head issue (TMK) & GM seemed to have really upgraded the interior quality (not that I mind mine). Does the C7 gen have its own share of issues right now?
What say ya'll? Curious how many of you may have made the switch personally?

I came from an 08 Z06, its deff a special car but was punishing to use everyday. Everything except out right acceleration the C7 is a hands down winner. My perfect garage would include a C6 Z along with the stingray. Until i win the lottery given the choice between the two the C7 is simply the better and more exciting car to drive and use everyday

The C7 will ride much better than the Z and the 14 still had the A6 which is a plus since the A8 continues to be plaiged with TC problems. U mention heavy mech. repairs so it may be a good time to upgrade. Good luck

The issues are sorted out now. Car needed a new transmission, slave cylinder, and diff. seals. She drives just fine now. The month long repairs, do put unpleasant thoughts in the back of mind though.

OP, have you had the heads/valvetrain addressed on your '08 Z06 ? if not and you don't want to deal with it, maybe time to make this move...
C7 picture looks nice.

I put 70,000 miles on an '09 Z06, and traded that in when I got my '14 Stingray.
I loved every minute of that Z06, but I do not regret the trade whatsoever.

Any other views of the 14? I was just wondering what mine would look like with a black hood then I see this one. Was hoping that you might have some other angles of the front to see how it looks.

All I would add to the discussion would be "Drive it First". I am so thankful I drove the stingray before doing any paperwork. Coming from a C6Z, you may disappointed with the HP, acceleration, etc. It took me 30 seconds in the Stingray to figure that was NOT the car for me. I'm just saying drive the Stingray to see if you will be happy.

I looked at the link and that is a little pricey for a 14, the big forum dealers sell 17 1LT's for that. I too have driven a C6 Z and they are quick but the C7 will hold it's own up until you get above 100 mph and the Z really starts to pull.

Keep in mind this is a 3LT. You cannot find a new 3LT Stingray for anywhere near $48K, but I do agree with you that the price is a little high. I would definitely negotiate $2-3K off.

Like you I had a 08Z ,I traded it in for a 15 stingray, I loved my Z and never liked the stingray. I said at the beginning when the first peeks of the mules came out that they were butt ugly. I disliked them then and still think it's butt ugly now. I had to trade my Z in because of problems.

My goal, as a company member, is to get the car at a reduced cost since that's a benefit to me. If the store wishes to hold the car at the current value, I'll go home in the Z06. A bit of win-win I guess.

In the family we started with a 2012 C6 base 1LT and a 2011 Carbon Edition Z06. We ended up with a C7 Z51 3LT and a Z06/Z07 3LT. All cars manual.
Interesting call between the C6 Z06 and C7 base. First - the C7 you're looking at doesn't appear to have the Z51 package or MSRC. My advice would be - if you really want to move to the C7 - don't just take one car because it ended up nearby and easier to trade. Think through options you'd want in the end, and then if you decide to make the change, ensure you have what you want.
The C6Z to C7 base - latter much better driving car, but a definite difference in raw power. I'd minimally get the Z51, or maybe wait until you could find a C7 Z06 at a price you could swing.

The comfort and driveability of the C7 Corvette is amazing. As comfortable as my previous Lexus. DO get the Z51 with Magnetic Ride or you could be disappointed. Both are well worth the options. Best choice of course would be the Grand Sport as they have massive sneakers and more aggressive appearance. Base models have tiny spoilers and smaller wheel size. The Magnetic ride allows you to go from very soft smooth ride to track harsh. Unless you like frill, the 2LT package is more than adequate as suede roof panels are a bit much.

C6 Z vs C7
Traded in a 08 Z for a 015 Stingray and will never go back to a C6. You are going from a buckboard to a Model T.
JACOB on the forum just traded his 07 Z for a 17 1LZ Z07 and can not believe the difference in the ride and handling.
Its time for you to upgrade.

When I get old(I'm only 75 now) I might consider getting out of my C6 Z06. Currently, it rides plenty well enough for me to drive 550 miles a day on two week, 6,400 mile road trips, on all kinds of roads. Also averages 29-30 MPG on those trips(best of 33.0 MPG on a 450 drive(one day) from Springfield, MO to Natchez, MS.
It drives superb, has plenty of power to out accelerate just about anything I might pull up next to in the real world, and corners great.
But, if I ever worry about my C6 Z06 being too rough for my fragile bones, I'll consider a Mercedes 4 door sedan, for comfort. Oh...wait...I have one of those for running errands.
I have the best of both worlds. No need for me to try and combine them both in a single automobile.
I have problems trying to justify a new SPORTS CAR because it rides a little smoother than my true sports car, the C6 Z06. I guess a soft ride, that a 100 year old senior citizen would like, would be beneficial if he was driving his sports car on back woods gravel roads every day, but that's not where I drive my sports car
