CD - if you ever make it, literally, to the middle of fly-over country, I'll let you drive mine. If the shet eatin' grin you'll have afterward wears off inside of a week, I'll check for a pulse.
You know your momma warned you some guys can be a bad influence on you. . . . . . . .

Any time, my friend.
Sounds like you're in the patient, look around/think about it stage. Which with something like this is smart. No sense in getting something you don't want, or settling on a color or options, etc.
Part of the fun will be the consideration of the very notion. In the meantime, you've got a great steed to ride.
Seriously, tho - if you ever do make it out here, drop me a note. Would love to meet you, and the first round is on me.

If you track your cars, don't.
I just went Z51 to Grand Sport and it's awesome.

can't think of a pro
except maybe to go just a little faster.
cons
possible zr1 might soon be in the offering and probably smoke a z06
C8 may be just around the corner
..posts by z06 owners with issues.
IMO save your money for the entirely new rear engine C8

I might get flamed for saying this, but supercharged cars are great if you are drag racing, but not for road racing. I don't do either

The ZR-1 thing has been mentioned already, and I acknowledge that point as a salient one.
I'd never buy the first year of a model redesign, so the C8 being "around the corner" is of no concern to me. If they make a mid-engine Corvette (which I seriously doubt), it would likely be $50K (or much more) more expensive than a Z06.
There are plenty of posts about Stingrays with issues. Other than the center console warping up prematurely, I've haven't had any of the issues I've seen posted up about the Stingray (knock on wood) and I've had my 2016 for over a year. That said...
Thank you for your input! It is greatly appreciated

Another thing to consider re timing. In a few months the new paint plant will be up and running, with potentially increased quality and likely additional/different colors.

I did it. Zero regrets. Pros and Cons? The pros are too numerous to name, but the cons might Be limited to:
- It is a full time job keeping it close to the speed limit.
- People stare, and take photos of it.
- I have less money in my pocket
- The power is intoxicating

Finalist 2020 C7 of the Year -- Unmodified
Have the same picture when I picked mine up 3 weeks ago and took all the plastic off and detailed it myself! Might look similar to some but a totally different car all together!r

To Foosh's point, he's talking about modding the driver and not the car. A lot of people should do that before adding power for the track (road racing). I want a Z06 primarily for the bragging rights

I can't speak for you but I have seen plenty of examples of where that's not true. When I went to Level 2 in the C6 days, we had a chance to switch back and forth between cars. Many students were faster in the Z51 than they were in the Z06. "Too much" power has an intimidating effect on some while more likely to put others off the pavement.

I'd be faster in a z06, but only for the first two laps.
