Would you do it?

Nope. I ordered my 2014 Stingray to cut options I did not care about and the car does everything I need it to do for street driving. (Torch red, 2LT, red calipers, z51 spoiler, stage 1 splitter, mod. Hurst shifter)
I thought about trading for a 2017 GS, but decided I was satisfied with what I have..
I like the wide body, but don't care about the eLSD, bigger brakes, NAV, extra coolers, bigger spoilers, more expensive tires, etc.
Not on the Z06, but I also did not like the body color trim pieces stuck on the fender vents... Think I would have to change to black.

Aside from the $ difference, there are no cons, it's ALL Pros. Yes I know nobody NEEDS 650 horses, but pretty much everyone WANTS them, Lol. Go for it!!

Yes you need a Z. There is nothing like 650 horses under your foot. The car isn't for everybody, but if you bleed performance go for it.

I did it. 2014 Stingray for a 2015 Z. Traded the 15 for a 16. Just do it.

I haven't felt the urge, which is weird for me because in the past I always wanted to upgrade to the top dog model. I've purchased many dozens of cars of all makes and models over the years, and averaged a new one about every 12-18 months. I bought one of the first C6 Z51s in 04, and one year later, I had one of the first 500 C6 Z06s.

I've also have a fair amount of track time, which taught me HP isn't everything, and you can have too much. I've seen good drivers humiliate amateur "super car" jockeys with hundreds less HP. For whatever reasons, I'm perfectly happy with my C7 Z51, which has been flawless, and haven't had the slightest urge to go up the C7 pecking order.

CD - you would have a ball with a Z, as you're a smart guy and a rational cat. The Z is not a good car for fools.

Absolute blast to drive.

Go get one, and live a bit.

If you "think" about it, there's no reason to, but this is really about how good you'll "feel" with 200 more hp.

The Stingray is all I need, and I think it's the best looking of the Corvettes.
...and the current crop eliminated my color choices.

I can't decide on this one. I'm pumping my GM Card right now with the intention of upgrading in the future, but I go back and forth about the main reason. Lets face it, it's pretty much bigger tires and more HP. More bragging rights. Honestly, the 460 HP version is already fast as hell and is a very fun car to drive, but more HP is generally more fun. Big tires are better too. Hmmm...

There are no cons, really. So, if you have any doubts, then maybe you don't really want to. You know, deep down... subconsciously.

The reasons to do it aren't good either! Unless you've got a legitimate need for more HP and handling features, then it would be hard to justify as being for any other reason than "I just want it because I want it."

And quite honestly, that's a good enough reason.

I'm getting to the point in my new career (post Army) where a Z is something I can more than comfortably purchase. Just knowing 650 horses are on tap is reason enough for me

Yes, having the 650HP must be an awesome feeling, and I think that's a good enough reason to make the move. According to the little lady, that won't happen for me... so we'll just see about that.

For me when I bought z06's were hard to find in the summer of 2015 in the color and trim I wanted so I bought the z51 3lt with everything I wanted at 12% off. All it was missing was the supercharger and wide body so I supercharged mine and now faster than a z06. I may do a rear widebody conversion down the road as used parts are becoming readily available on eBay and save a tone of coin. But even if I go widebody upgrade I'll be thousands under the price of a z06. Money saved is money towards a c8 if it is a nice upgrade in a few years.

Excellent points to consider. Or in my case, reconsider.

I was going to buy an electron blue Z06 before I bought my Stingray. The deciding factor in going with the Stingray was the superfluous features on the Z06 as opposed to the Stingray which was "just right" for me.

I think now that I simply have a wish to have the "lead horse" in the stable
