Yeah, Just called State Farm this afternoon! I was shocked at the increase and slipped out an automatic F Bomb to the unsuspecting agent!

The fenders sure don't look wider compared to the quarter panel differences between stingray and Z/GS...If they are truly wider, why do they utilize the spats?

What mistake? The C6 base had normal front fenders, the C6Z, C6 GS and the C6 ZR1 all had wider proper designed front fenders that did not necessitate weather stripping to be tacked on.

The mag shocks on the C7 are a meaningful step forward from the previous gens. I agree with the OP - nice to have and work very well.

traded 07 ron fellows z06 for gs collector edition, the mag ride on the test drive sold me. took delivery of of z06 4/1/07. took delivery of gs 4;30/17. 10 years of diggin the c6z...

the c7 gs is a little lacking in power compared to the c6z, and i really do miss the ls7 [ freaking awesome power plant]. that said the gs is superior in every way. except for rear visibility. wife and i did 4200 mile road trip to museum, cruising rt 66 and american heartland that would not been as enjoyable in the c6z.

my experience of owning/ driving corvettes for the past 32 years is every gen is better than the last. LOVE THEM ALL!!!!

enjoy the new ride!

Thnaks for sharing roughly what it cost to make the switch. I am probably looking at $20k if I were to swap 3lt for 3lt. Think I'll just learn to love Laguna Blue.

This is from a previous post on CF. They indicate the fenders are different. I don't have both in my possession to confirm.

I will tell you, they cheaped out and used C7 fenders instead of building proper Z06 and GS fenders.
Yes they "cheaped out", but not on the front-fenders they are different than the Stingray. The spats are there because they didn't want to change the front-fascia which would have added significant cost and probably have to be retested in crash testing.

The C6 looks knock-kneed and weird. But I don't like talking about other cars in the C7 forum.

Only the GM designers know for sure, but they're already dedicated fenders so you guys thinking they "cheaped" out are incorrect. The money is already spent, they could have widened them for free, but it wouldn't look right. I think they just wanted to avoid repeating past design mistakes ala the C6.

But then the C6 owners are the experts on the C7, so I'll defer to them.

We don't have to ask the engineers, Why? Just look at the new ZR1. It has a new front-fascia allowing for a wider "Spatless" front-fender.

If the fenders are wider then it must have a wider track, because the rubber is still visible from a dead-front shot. That's the problem with the C6, the tires were inset and that's what they avoided on the C7Z.

On the GS/Z they are shaped different (for the spats) not necessarily wider (without the spats). Yes, wider with the spats.

The ZR1 fenders appear to have no spats.

I like the spats they go well with my stage 1 front spoiler!

I do, they are different. Tape measure also confirms.

how different? They're different in width?

What is the difference in distance from the center of the hood to the furthest edge of the fender, excluding wheel spat? Thanks!

Also, is it just me or are the rear wheels really tucked in? I feel like you could easily get a 1" wider rear wheel, no problem at all.
