Default Can you wash an indoor car cover?

Good day everyone. As the title states, has anyone tried successfully to wash in a washing machine a C7 GM indoor car cover?

The GM paperwork that came with the cover says you can't and you can only spot clean but I would like to clean the whole thing.

Just looking for input of those that own or have owned them and have washed them.

Thank you

I'm sure you can hand wash it in a tub. Probably just air dry it.

Good question. I always wipe/dust the car before covering it for multiple reasons. I've never had to wash or clean the car covers I've owned. If they get to a point where they are getting the car dirty, it's probably safer to get a new cover.

I've done that too with other car covers - although they were not from GM.

WTF? This is just plain silly. Car covers can be cleaned and should be fairly regularly. Certainly the frequency depends on whether or not they are used outdoors but they can be safely laundered, just go delicate and line dry. Do you buy new bedsheets every time they get dirty?

To date, I have not had to launder a car cover I have owned. Im very meticulous and keep my cars very clean.

If I somehow got a car cover very very dirty, my piece of mind would vanish at the thought of imbedded dirt/sand or rocks rubbing against the paint. I would try cleaning the cover as instructed before laundering if it is not suppose to be laundered. If I damage it or don't feel comfortable with the manual hand cleaning, I'd buy another one.

Bed sheets by default are launderable, so that's not really the same thing. If car covers are known to be launderable, this thread and discussion is irrelevant.

I have one and I have washed it many times. I just do not use any fabric softener as recommended by a lot of people and it comes out brand new every time.

I have washed mine several times. Mainly because it gets dirty where it touches the tires and sometimes it even gets a little dirty from the exhaust. I take it to the giant washing machines and dryers at the laundromat.

I've washed car covers many times with no issues, however never had a GM cover.
Good timing on this thread though as I'm considering purchasing a GM cover for my new Grand Sport.

I have an indoor intro-tech cover, they recommend two methods of cleaning.

1. Place in washer with no agitator.
2. Place on car, wash and clean the outside of the cover, turn inside out and clean the inside of the cover.

Either method they recommend to hang to dry and not place in a dryer.
