Default Stinger Hood Stripe - Stupid Question

What is the "default" color? I am picking up my C7 on Saturday and it's Laguna Blue Metallic. I want to add the hood stripe, but looking on eBay, I'm not sure if I should get gloss black or the carbon flash metallic. Is there a default color that everyone has gone with or that most order? The car already has blacked out badges along with side mirrors and rear spoiler. I plan on getting the GS/Z06 front splitter and side skirts. Just trying to "match" everything. If the mirrors are carbon flashed, does that mean the carbon flash metallic stripe would match? Or do I go gloss black? Pretty sure the hood vents are gloss black. Just don't want this to look ridiculous.

According to the eBay listing:

"We will be sending 3M 1080-G212 GLOSS BLACK METALLIC (THERE IS NO CARBON FLASH COLOR, THIS IS ONLY GENERAL MOTOR FANCY NAME FOR BLACK METALLIC)

Thanks for any input. If anyone has pictures of gloss black vs carbon flash metallic that would be even better.

3m gloss black metallic goes best with the carbon flash in the hood vent. I wrapped my hood stripe, roof and halo in this color and it looked great!

GM offers the hood stripe in several colors. The one that's black is Carbon Flash Metallic, the same metallic black that's used on the hood vents and other exterior trim. The only difference (other than being a sticker and not paint) is that the finish on the hood stripe isn't quite as glossy as that of the other Carbon flash pieces. It's not matte either; I guess I'd refer to it as semi-gloss.

Unless you buy an oem decal, it will not be carbon flash. I ordered the same one off of eBay and gloss black metallic is definitely different from carbon flash. My car had carbon flash hash marks and the gloss black metallic does not have as much metallic in it as the carbon flash. You probably will not notice the difference if that is the only decal on the car, but when you put them side by side, there is a difference.

I saw a guy with a blue one (mine is Laguna Blue) and it was only the black outline. Meaning, it wasn't a full decal because most of the car's blue shined through the cutout. Wish I could find a picture. It looked really cool.

BTW that looks really cool ^

I would think with Laguna Blue Carbon Flash accent Vents/ emblems that a Carbon Flash OEM Hood Stinger would look the best!

Here is a close up of my carbon flash hood vent and stinger. Sorry for the reflection and is the best I can do right now. I would stay with Carbon Flash .

Those stingers sure look good.

I considered a stinger on both my Laguna blue Z51 and on my Long Beach red GS, but talked myself out of it when I realized I'd be paying $500 to cover up a portion of my $995 paint.

I went with a 3M stinger decal that is a flat and what looks like a carbon fiber weave. In my opinion the hood was so shiny the sun reflected in the eyes and the flat finish stops that. My car is also Laguna Blue.

Carbon Flash stinger stripe on Shark Gray. Matches the Carbon Flash package and hood vents perfectly. The OEM stripe is painted and clear- coated vinyl. You can treat it as you would the car's painted finish.

There was a guy with the Jake logo one on a laguna blue metallic and cannot find the picture again for the life of me.

I just hate buying OEM because it's $200+ for a big sticker basically.

I appreciate it. That looks really nice. I haven't seen anyone with a stinger stripe that has the body color painted roof. I wonder if it just looks strange... Either way, for the cost of it, it's probably worth the gamble.

Thanks

To add to all of the good info in this thread,
If you are into the Jake Skull Corvette Racing logo, then
there is another option that looks killer on any color
The decal that comes on the C7.R -
23270637

and the carbon flash metallic two tone jake skull decal
for LT1 engines - 23360469
for LT4 engines - 23360470

yes! Thank you! The top one in blue is really cool. I may go that route. Too bad it's $200 for a decal but is what it is I guess. Looks really good though.

I took this pic when I was getting my windows tinted. This is what I used to make my own stinger hood stripe and as you can see from the pic, it matches almost perfectly.
