Bass is killing the door skin on outside-what are you doing???
I know this is a common issue I am just curious what everyone is doing? I like loud music and inside it sounds perfect but outside it sounds like a 70 cutlass with 4 15" subwoofers LOL. I laid down Dynamat through the whole rear of the car when I did my meth kit but I really don't feel like pulling door panels. If that's my only true option I will and can line the inside of the outer door skin and around the speakers in the door but damn GM. This is dumb. I have read some went back to the dealer. What did they do??? Thanks guys just a curiosity post.

I’m curious as to why you care what the music sounds like *outside* the car if you admit that you already like what it sounds like *inside*?
Not judging – just curious.
Pretty certain the dealer won’t see your concern as any kind of warranty issue, but admittedly I’m pretty fuzzy as to the exact nature of your problem.

I've thought about a lot if things but never that. Most interesting thought concept which I compliment you on as most people can't think in abstract very well. I'll bet the fiberglass has something to do with that. As much as I like music everywhere, in the Corvette I about never turn it on due to the damn exhaust with 42 on standby. Ill try it and see.

You need to inject some RTV between the door skin inner surface and the steel crash beam that runs along it. I think there was a GM Service Bulletin about this, that there may not have been sufficient adhesive goop applied at the factory between the panel and the beam.

LOL I had a feeling I would get some useless comments. In any case ersatz928 appreciate the recommendation. Those of you that have the bass set on you stock radio above the mid point and listen to it about 75% do me a favor and just shut the door and stand outside and tell me what you hear. Negative comment removed.

I don't know Teddy....if it sounds bad to you outside, maybe just invite people to sit in the passenger seat so they can see what they're missing on the inside.

After 4 attempts to correct it, here is GM's final position on it.
"in order for noise to be heard, radio needs a high bass setting. Normal vibrations will occur at such frequency. no known corrections available at present"
Keep in mind, bass in my car is set at 75% and volume was at 50% although lower settings also create the vibration. I stpped listening to the radio as I can't stand it. Sounds like a POS ricer 1989 civic thats only missing the fart can exhaust.
I kid you not, a kid in another car once told me through his open window that my car "rattled a lot".
Pissed me off to no end, because he was correct.

Hmm, never heard of this as an issue! Hard to believe a Vette owner cares.
Been to a car show with my ProStreet Rod where they also had a "sound-off" contest and from the outside the cars sounded bad! If you were inside, where they measure db and sound quality, your ears would bleed!
Won't go to another one of those shows but did learn a lot about sound from the 60 year old guy with a station wagon who won! Turns out to reduce distortion of the sounds played in the contest he had to use like 3/4 inch glass and reinforce/braced the door/roof panels. He had enough capacitors that would completely fill a C7! Had to laugh, he beat all the young ricer kids who thought the tens of thousand they spent on creating noise was cool! He was an acoustics engineer!
A Vette was not designed for "sound-offs!"
With no room for a back seat and being "tubed" I built a "sound wall" for my ProStreet Rod to match the interior and look good! Lots of power but never play it loud!
The "sound wall" was built to fill the rear space but never play music at Shows!

IMO, anyone who plays their music loud enough to be heard outside the car is just plain rude and inconsiderate.
You'll regret listening to loud music when you get older and suffer from tinnitus and hearing loss.

Your version of rude may not fit anyone else's definition.
I don't listen to my music loud enough to be offensive except perhaps to a judgemental wuss.
Sound travels, it passes through the thin door skin and glass with very little effort. The issue isn't volume, it's the vibration created as the sound passes through. To any occupant in the vehicle those vibrations are heard just below the music while anyone outside can hear the vibrations more clearly as the music volume is impeded by the vehicles materials, the same materials being acoustically vibrated!
I wouldn't enter a "sound off" in a stock oem system but I did expect to be able to listen to Styx without my car rattling apart. The oem system is well thought out except for the vehicle it was put into. No one put any engineering into deadening the vibrations the sound/speakers would/will create.
