If you forget to tighten the wheel nuts, the wheels will fly off too...

Sorry to hear, but this is clearly user error unless you are holding back something else.

Flying Roof Club - Never Again! Free Mod

Yes, the best kind of MOD - a free one!

This is not my idea, so I will not take credit. But if you don't want to become a member of the expensive Flying Roof Club - get off your duff and do this NOW!

I started with a couple of strips of wast left over Christmas ribbon, but I spent a couple bucks and got these as a replacement for the ribbon. You need a foot of fishing line, and a couple pieces of duct tape.

Self explanatory. Just shove them up behind the handles. They will not interfere with operation or anything. And when you open up the handles, just let them hang as a reminder to latch them.

Enjoy your Corvette Tax-free mod.

Don't wait until your roof goes a-flying before doing this!

So common that there's a vendor here that started a business based on this phenomenon.

How hard is it to remember to secure these three simple things?

I don't understand how in the world you forget. You put the roof back on and before you do anything else, you tighten the roof down. The whole process takes under a minute for me.

This. I'm a fairly forgetful person, but man- that's hard to do. I mean, the handles stick out

With that said, I'm shocked there isn't a light that goes off or something, like a door being open.

People find a way of running over themselves with their own vehicle fairly frequently too.

No amount of countermeasures are enough for some.
