Name one car forum without these people? Have a sense of humor and take the good with the bad. He posted a crappy thread about losing the roof... let the games begin.

I expect in my lifetime we will see the fear/nannying of automobiles to the point that self driving cars will be mandated due to safety reasons.

1) Opiate overdoses
2) Car accidents
Heroin and cars are about equal, which doesn't say much good for cars.
I for one look forward to the day when most cars are autonomous and don't make stupid mistakes, drive drunk, drive way too fast, signal one way while turning the other, and so on... as long as we're still ABLE to drive, not HAVING to will make things a lot safer.
I do fear if that comes to pass, though, the accident rates for self-driven cars will be so much higher (ie: most accidents caused by drivers) that your ability to actually drive on public roads might become limited.

I don't find them funny
To take the leap from someone thinking a simple reminder is a good idea to foretelling the end of the world is nothing if not funny.
It is time to get back to talking about these great cars and being honest in the discussion. The only things besides a roof latch reminder the C7 needs to be the perfect automobile are blind spot monitoring and curb feelers.

I'm not advocating it, but the two leading causes of death for people under 50 are:
1) Opiate overdoses
2) Car accidents

I don't find them funny, or I would. I find them sad and depressing, insofar as they are a reflection of humanity in general. I don't dwell on it though, it was just an observation...

So Joe Dirt's cousin, brother, or whatever the fk he is, Stew, comes in here and posts one post, "Roof flew offf Stingray", with absolutely no details at all, and you guys jump on it like it's the last train out.
Talk about hook, line, and sinker.

There are several videos for roof removal/install, here is a link to one:
Even if you don't plan to use the removable roof feature (and there are times when it is very nice to have the targa top off) then you should still remove it once in awhile to treat the seals to keep them quiet and resilient for the life of the car.

It doesn't matter whether or not this really happened to the person who started the thread. I can guarantee someone, somewhere, has had a roof fly off because of inattention and distraction. What's so hard to believe? That's not an indictment. Has anyone here ever misplaced your keys, forgotten something and had to go back into the house, etc. etc.? it's easy to be judgmental of others. The danger of having a roof fly off it real, and it actually makes sense for a reminder chime until the latches shut. As a motorcycle rider, I can attest to nearly having been hit by unsecured objects flying out of the backs of trucks. As distracted as people are nowadays, maybe GM will consider a safety fix here.
