Driving impressions: Shelby GT350 vs. Stingray
I had a chance to test drive a '17 Shelby GT350 and compare it to two Stingrays Wich I drove recently in manual and also the A8 versions, and this is my appreciation during the brief driving:
The Shelby GT350 loves to rev up to 8000 RPM and with a very strong muffler sound that you can silent just with a flip of a switch and the Recaros felt great but they are non electrical, the look of the car is just OK. But even that most magazines over praise this Mustang is not worth its price compared to the Stingray wich is also a great performer but it looks way way better than the Shelby. My well expended $ will go easily for the Corvette wich has a very strong engine compared to my 580 hp ZL1, and also the Stingray has a great suspension plus love that feeling of driving closer to the ground.
I ask my Son and my wife which one they preferred , and without a doubt both mentioned the Stingray as a superior car.
I even told the Guys at the FORD dealership that they were really crazy by asking a 15000 markup on that car.
On the Stingrays I did not have any negative, probably just that is easy to miss a shift while driving on the manual 7 speed and the transparent roof does not go with the high heat weather of Texas. The rest of those Stingrays, are completely perfect. Enjoy your C7s. Great cars!

The GT350 is a very nice car. I can't believe that dealerships are still asking and people are paying ADMs for them... I've seen them go for less than sticker now.

Probably depends on the location. On autotrader at Texas they are still sky high and very scarce.

Markup
Last time I was in Chino Hills Ford in So. Cal. they are still marking Shelby's up. The one in the showroom was $20,000.00 over window sticker. I was talking with a friend who I ran into at the dealership the same day, he was there talking to them about leasing a Mustang GT and they said because it was a specialty car ( yes a specialty car, WHAT!)and very high in demand, they couldn't offer him a lease on the car. He told them they could shove their car where the sun doesn't shine, I suggested he look into a Corvette, far superior car for sure, he did but ended up with a Camaro Super Sport. Friends save friends from buying a Ford. You are probably wondering what I was doing at a Ford dealership, I stopped to see an old friend of mine who works there.

The GT350 is a nice car for the market it's aiming for. I was at my Ford dealer for an oil change on the wife's GT, and they had a 10K ADM on a GT350. I told the salesperson that it's strange to see a Mustang that cost more than my Vette. And if I had to chose, the Mustang would still be in the showroom as I drove by in a Vette. She smiled, and agreed.

The gt350 is different in that you have room in the cabin and a trunk. My knees hit the dash in a C7. Still, interior aside the C7 is superior without Z51 option. Now the list price for gt350's are a joke. Maybe when the market wakes up a bit they will drift into the low 50 grand range. 350R's are different 'R' for ruff ride and wheels cost 20 grand...hype!

I'm not buying "hype". Too many car enthusiasts singing their praise. As I say, there are "car guys" and "Corvette Guys" who can't see beyond their own bowtie. If the Vette has it so figured out and the 350R lacking, why are new and especially used prices on C7's dropping like a huge prehistoric turd! THUD! How many dropped $100k+ on a new ZO6 and hoping they are still worth anything north of $70K now.
LOVE the C7 but not so short sided to appreciate other cars either.

Melting Slicks
Guy had one this morning at tech. Bad left rear wheel bearing. 1800 miles. One event.
Looked to be a nice car. I am not a Mustang guy for sure and haven't really looked at a Mustang up close in an awfully long time. The Owner was very cool and just matter of fact about it. Said they only come with a manual transmission. Told me they have 526 hp. It had a small trunk, back seats I think, IRS, BIG calipers but drilled rotors, regular sized, even undersized rubber and was dark grey with black accent stripes.
I have no idea how much they cost and he didn't offer it up but for in the 40's or so I would put it on a list of cars I would consider if I was looking for a fun street car. I think my Uncle paid mid 30's for his GT.
He will have it at Watkins Glen with us in a couple weeks and I will make it a point to see how it pulls up the back stretch against my Wife's C7GS.

as for Z06's? I coukd sell my 16 for what I paid all day long I got such a good deal by using timing in North East.
btw. Remember when Ford was discounting the GT back in the day? Now look at them. They started high then couldn't give them away.

Like thefact they got the manual Recaros..theres a difference between the 2 crowds. The vette guys seem to like all the little gizmos and complain if they dont.
Mustangs have come a long way..see what a Shelby gets in 20-30 yrs vs a 30 yr old C7

Huh? Cars.com go find some used even 2014 C7s for less than 45k. Theres one with 30k miles on it for 40k. A 1LT that was 50k 4 years ago new.

Too many C7's including ZO6 to even compare (or hope) the same will happen as the Ford GT. Most/many GT's sold for a huge premium with a few (VERY few) perhaps selling nearer MSRP at the end. I financed the last one available in the entire Midwest... it sold for only $5k over MSRP.
Apparently cars.com is high. Check Ebay. Check Craig's. For that manner, check the recent Z06 for sale on this forum. $105K invested, 1100 miles, $30k discount. For starters.
All new base C7's in the entire DFW area are 14% of MSRP.
Proof is what someone is actually getting paid for their car, not an inflated advertised price.
Check sold listings on Ebay. Another with $115K documented recently sold for $53.5K. Examples like this all day long.

FWIW, Two GT350R's were running all over me in my stock Z51 at Watkins Glen couple weeks ago. They seemed to me to be playing seriously with the Z06's.
Both had roll cages and slicks, so not casual HPDE drivers like myself.
Never cross shopped one when getting the C7. ADM is a deal breaker for me.
