When To Change Oil 1st Time
I have a 2017 Stingray wet sump and the dealer sent me a notice that all Corvettes need oil changed at 500 miles. I have 1500 on it as I send this. Who's Right?

If they want to give you an additional free oil change at 500 miles it can't hurt :-). I'd just confirm with them that you would get your other two free as well.

All covered in a GM bulletin that came out 13 months after I received my September 2013 built Z51! Therefore until the GM bulletin came out the dry sumps were to change oil at the same time as wet sumps, when the OLM said to. If you put on less than ~5000 miles/year that would be at 1 year.
The Bullitin said dry sumps had a "chance" of having oil foam burp with the air from the dry sump tank into the air intake tube, then "possibly" flow down to the air filter and drip on the ground.
This might occur because silicone from curing seals depleted the antifoam agents in the factory oil fill. That could occur "If the engine was operated at sustained high speeds." (Note: words in Bold Italic are what it said in the GM bulletin. Also when I added a low restriction air filter after a year I looked carefully at the removed air duct and filter for any signs of oil! I hit redline a few times before I changed my own oil at ~1500 miles. Not a drop of oil!)
Wet sumps don't burp air from a dry sump tank to the air intake-so not an issue. In addition it said the oil foam has "no effect on the engine reliability."
MY OBSERVATION: Since I got my C7 Z51 a number of posters have had oil dripping from the air cleaner after they had the 500 miles oil change! IMO it's more likely to occur from a dealer overfill than "operating your engine at sustained high speeds!" If you have a dealer change oil in a wet or dry sump check the oil level after!

My plan when I get my 2018 next year (which will be a wet sump) is to do the first oil change at 50% on the OLM. Then for every oil change after that, I'll wait until it hits 0%. I plan on doing all of my own oil changes (even though I know I get some free ones) and I will be sticking with Mobil 1 5w30 and AC Delco filters. That car is going to be a keeper and I am hoping to get over 250,000 trouble free miles out of the engine.

All perfect, IMO. Free screwed-up oil changes thta may come with cracked rocker panels from them not using jack pads, hoping the mechanic takes the extra time to go to the parts department to sign them out (assume he knows if they have them) or actually looks at the passenger seat where you put them in a plastic bag for him to use or overfilling, tightening the filter so tight the next mechanic can't remove it or the rubber gasket leaks from being distorted-NOT WORTH THE PRICE!

I did mine @ 892. Typically like to do it around 5-800 miles. You will be fine if you do it now. ..notice that I said "I" changed the oil. Would NEVER take it to the store to have it done - "free" or not.

I used to change the oil at the first 1000 miles, but on my Stingray I ended up letting it go to 2,500 miles for the first change.
After that, usually between 4,000 and 5,000, or once per year.

The C7 was the first to do that! My C6 said change when the OLM says or 1 years WHICHEVER OCCURS FIRST! But you had to keep track of time.
My '93 and '88 Vettes and the 8.2 Liter crate engine I have in my Street Rod all said change at XXXX (don't remember which were miles and which were OLM) but all said (say in the case of the crate motor) change at maximum 1 year!

Thank You all for your input. I change my own oil and it will be a cold day in hell when I have to take it to the dealer. I was planning on oil change at 2,000. "Happy Motoring" to you all.

It's amazing how ignorant some dealer personnel are about the products they sell and service.

According to the Chevrolet Complete Care program on their website the 3 oil changes are covered for all 2017 Corvettes, not just dry sump as in 2016 and earlier. I had mine changed at about 800 miles. My selling dealer did a perfect job, oil level was spot on and they used jacking pucks.

Looks like you have a Grand Sport so entitled to 3. Glad you have a good service dealer.
This is what I just found on the Chevrolet Complete Care website:
"During your first 24,000 miles or 24 months of ownership (whichever comes first), we cover two oil and oil filter changes and tire rotations according to your vehicle’s maintenance schedule."
From 2017 Owner’s Manual in the tables on "maintenance schedule" (Pages 309 & 311-all page #s from the PDF version):
"Dry Sump Engines Only (Stingray with Z51, Grand Sport, and Z06) - Required: Initial break-in oil change. Change engine oil and filter after the first 800 km/500 mi. Follow the engine oil life system for every oil change thereafter."
The same words are on Page 24, 236, 308 and perhaps some others)
If you’re referring to the error in wording on page 182 in the 2017 Owner’s Manual, that has been reprinted in some brochures:
"After the first 800 km (500 mi), change the engine oil on vehicles with the LT1 engine, the LT4 engine, the Z51 package, or the Grand Sport package."
(Note the sentence would not need the Z51 or Grand Sport mentioned. IMO it was changed incorrectly to include the Grand Sport introduced in 2017.)
IMO it was meant to have read:
"After the first 800 km (500 mi), change the engine oil on vehicles with LT4 engine and the Z51 package, or the Grand Sport package with the LT1 engine."
More power to anyone who can convince a dealer to give the third one free for a wet sump! (Since GM only reimburses the dealer for two changes.)
PS: This issue has been raised since the 2017 Owner's Manual came out. To my knowledge few if any dealers can be convinced to change wet sumps at 500 miles or give 3 free ones.

Ditto. I'd only take it to the dealer if I have no choice. Skipped the free changes. My rockers are still intact. If I gotta wait somewhere, might as well be in my garage where I control the TV remote and can drink beer while I wait. (for the oil to fully drain out)

I have a 2017 Stingray without the Z51 package (wet sump) and just turned 2,300 miles on the car yesterday - after almost six months of ownership. The oil life monitor says 57 percent right now and the oil on the dipstick still looks to be fairly decent.
Since my first two oil changes are "free" for the first 24 months, I was considering getting one of them done NOW and the second one in another 4,000 miles (which would probably be some time in 2018). My totally annual mileage will be about 5,000 miles - or close to that. After the first two free ones, I plan to change the oil myself as long as I own the car.
Is this too often? I use Mobil-1 in my 2015 Altima (daily driver) and change my oil every 4,000 to 5,000 miles whether it needs it or not. I have always changed my oil more often than necessary.......sort of as a form of cheap insurance. I know technology has improved, but I am still "old school" in much of my thinking.
