I hate to say this, but GM's silence on the A8 issue speaks volumes. If it were a small problem, they'd find a way to get that word out w/ stats. It is the LS7 valve drop problem all over again.

^^^^ are you hoping for the spotlight to shift lol... no, the "A8" doesn't spew oil all over the highway when it faulters with the "shudder" and can still be driven.. I doubt many A8 owners are thinking "oh man, is this about to blow??????"

How has your A8 been working Sam?

Foosh, any issues with your A8?

You got a LEMON! It's the luck of the draw. Mine has been perfect with 7700 miles so far.

Thank God they didn't put that POS transmission in C6Z's.

I understand where the OP is coming from, if I had those problems it would have been long gone. I do believe the repairing dealer and their ability to do the repair makes all the difference. I have a 2014 A6, no problems with anything on this car. Was going to get a Z06 until the A8 problems started showing up. I love this car, staying with the A6. Does surprise me more people weren't reluctant to go to the A8 with all the negative reports on the forum.

Steve....^^^^^^ these are the problem. and why you guys are so busy... so many of them do not have these cars. let alone these transmissions but they love to ramble on and stoke the flames of the poor owners...

Do you see any of us in your section poking the LS7 Valve disaster owners?? i wouldn't bother, i'm not miserable... misery loves company as they say.

these moderators do nothing but fix issues addressing the obvious.. you guys slip through the cracks because you don't use profanity or become vulgar..

after you come in, twist the screws of a few C7 OWNERS who are in a bind and venting to other OWNERS of the car, then those without issues call guys like you out, guys "like" you then complain to moderators in PM's that you are being throttled or harassed or someone is hostile to you and they get banned.

guy's like you, are the same as the guy throwing the first punch before the ref sees, then the guy throwing the retaliatory punch during an NFL game gets penalized

unfortunately, guys with no interest other than to cause drama for whatever reason, do create problems with posting in this area with no vested interest.

it's sad really...

Sam, I implore you to think about things like i posted before you incite more anger or frustration from these poor owners who come here to get some counseling or consolation for their disappointment in a car you own.. maybe not the same generation, still they are CORVETTES... cheers.

I don't know why you seem to think one has to own one to see a very large number of reports from actual A8 owners, not just here, but everywhere it's used. It's not just a few disgruntled people, it's a rather large crowd. Almost every day here, it's more and more people w/ A8s reporting problems.

I'm not anti-A8. I'm not routing for these vehicles (not just Corvette) to fail. I'm not anti-automatic transmission. It doesn't make me happy to see upset owners. On the contrary, I'm very concerned.

As I said, GM's silence speaks volumes, and I did have a valve drop on an LS7. To GM's credit, I had a new engine within a week, but that doesn't mean there wasn't a big problem. I am very pro-C7, and it's great car. I just think the A8 situation is a real shame. It hurts the entire brand, which affects all Corvette owners.

It is indeed "sad really . . .", as is denial.

I love my A8 on my Z06.. I have done many 1/4 mile passes in the low 10's on drag radials and 720WHP. It still shifts like new after 17K miles. I now daily drive at 1024WHP and the drivetrain hasn't had any issues. How many cars in any price range can do this?

I'm just over it. The only possible reason to spend this kind of money on a sports car is if you enjoy it. Even if it was fixed today, the experience has completely eroded any kind of enjoyment that I was hoping to get from owning a Corvette.

It's just not a viable car to own long-term, and I would not consider owning a GM car at this point under any circumstance. Just look at the other transmission failures across the rest of their product lines...

A big F-YOU also to Classic Chevrolet in Sugarland, TX for throwing up their hands. The tech even confirmed that the engine is still running so rough that its triggering the knock sensor, but they just aren't going to do anything about it.

Just throwing this out there before I deactivate my account here, just in case I can possibly save one person from the terrible mistake I made by assuming that a C7 Corvette is a viable vehicle to actually drive further than 10,000mi without its drivetrain imploding.

Queue the GM apologists replying, telling me how ridiculous I am, and how their car is super-great. Out of 3 people I know with C7's, now all 3 of us have had transmission replacements. You can't tell me that's an anomaly.

It's just not a well built car. It doesn't get much simpler than that.
I feel for you brother, it's BS what you're going through with this car. I'd feel the same way you do if I had to deal with it.

Everyone knows Sammy is one of this forum's biggest trolls.
Just let it go...he's just angry because he can't afford a C7.

Sunsalem, that's the problem with forum posts.. it's not anger or HOSTILITY.. it's pure disappointment in a brotherhood where we all "wave" to one another to our face then come on here and bash one another or pour fuel on the flames when things go bad with one of our generations? not right. we're on the same side..

The A8 trans in the vette is just a joke. It's also a junk box in the cts-v. Had you gone with the manual you would have probably never had an issue. That being said you should be able to buy either trans in confidence and without issue. Go really dropped the ball with this trans. Sorry for your issues and I def don't blame you for wanting to get rid of that lemon.

Everybody take a breath..
Think of it this way..
Doesn't matter what car, 3 transmissions in 2 months...
Of course he's going to call it a POS & want to dump it..
We all would..

Absolutely correct.

and he's venting and we're listening.

two types of people post in these threads. Those looking to help and those looking to fan flames. If anyone on here can't feel for the OP and not pile on that speaks volumes as to their intent. We contribute because we care for one another on here.. The way it should be.

This. Times 1000%.
We're all in this big ole' boat together, so we might as well learn to get along. If I was the OP I'd feel the same way. Unfortunately, anything mechanical, made by human hands, can sometimes turn out defective. I hope the OP gets resolution soon, I'd be frustrated too if I was going through the same scenario.
