After 2 months of dealing with this C7, its clear that being a GM owner is just not for me. The transmission has been pulled from the car 3 times now, and the issues are still not resolved.

I'm just over it. The only possible reason to spend this kind of money on a sports car is if you enjoy it. Even if it was fixed today, the experience has completely eroded any kind of enjoyment that I was hoping to get from owning a Corvette.

It's just not a viable car to own long-term, and I would not consider owning a GM car at this point under any circumstance. Just look at the other transmission failures across the rest of their product lines...

A big F-YOU also to Classic Chevrolet in Sugarland, TX for throwing up their hands. The tech even confirmed that the engine is still running so rough that its triggering the knock sensor, but they just aren't going to do anything about it.

Just throwing this out there before I deactivate my account here, just in case I can possibly save one person from the terrible mistake I made by assuming that a C7 Corvette is a viable vehicle to actually drive further than 10,000mi without its drivetrain imploding.

Queue the GM apologists replying, telling me how ridiculous I am, and how their car is super-great. Out of 3 people I know with C7's, now all 3 of us have had transmission replacements. You can't tell me that's an anomaly.

It's just not a well built car. It doesn't get much simpler than that.

Mine works fabulously as do tens of thousands of other vette owners. Of course I have an M7 and there have been a number of reports of problems with the A8 but understand, every car line, every car company, has some cars that have problems. Sorry you got one that has problems and I understand you being very upset. But realize that most vette owners do not have the troubles you've been experiencing.

Sorry to hear that about your A8.
Maybe a calm sit down negotiation with your dealer on a trade in for a new M7 would be the ticket.

That's unfortunate. All I can say is my car is rock solid and I love it. If yours is not, you have my sympathies and I wish you well in the search for a new car. I have one other problematic vehicle, and it's no fun.

What these posts will not do, however, is tarnish my own enjoyment of a spectacular vehicle. Even if I got lucky and got the only good one, it's a good one.

Come back and drop us a note a couple of months after you've replaced it to let us know what with and how it compares!

I can certainly understand how you feel. Not what you'd expect at any price point from any manufacturer. I don't think GM's transmission problems will be resolved until the A10 is in all their RWD cars and trucks.

Have you looked into the lemon law for your car? From what I'm reading it appears that it would easily qualify in most states.

I feel bad for your situation but most of us haven't had even one issue after a few years. I'd try lemon law and get another one if you enjoyed her while she was working.

While my trans hasn't been pulled three times, it also does not function properly. The dealer simply tells me that can't duplicate the issues and even when I do with their tech riding shot gun, they say they can't determine why it did what it did and then they fall back on, we can't duplicate it again.

I too am becoming disenfranchised with GM.

Some people simply attract negativity. Their trash can is always full. Their toilet paper is always empty, and there is a 50% chance they forgot to flush. There's something always, always wrong in their lives and the one thing that is certain is that they're going to tell you all about it in great detail even though no one cares all that much. Best thing to do is wave these people a fond adieu and hope you never see them again. Unfortunately, some of them are relatives and you don't have that choice. In any case, don't let the door hit you on the way out!

Totally understand, when you buy a new car some sense of "should be reliable" goes along with it. OD trans have been a headache for decades, but that goes with many mfrs today the electronics in them go nuts and give all kinds of fun symptoms regardless of brand.

Dont think hes a negative guy these have been finicky touch and go cars for decades, ya gotta really love them to own one otherwise they will drive you crazy.

Yep, I'm just another "outlier" with a Corvette that runs great, as have all the other Corvettes I've had for the past 20+ years. Oh sorry... forgot to use the term in your narrative... "apologist".

I get the frustration (A8 certainly has had its issues), but then to go on and castigate the entire company and all those Corvette owners who don't agree with your summary judgment?

I challenge you to find a single major car company who DOESN'T have a number of customers just like you who have had repeating, unresolved issues with their cars.

I know the feeling . . . the day I drove home the AC on my 911 went out . . . over the next few years I had to redo the clutch, a few switches, and had the entire engine replaced due to oil consumption*. Last straw for me was paying $3000 out of pocket for two leaking radiators . . . The logical side of me knows this is an anomaly, but the emotional side makes me rather anti-Porsche . . .


*FYI, 1 Qt in a little under 600 miles is still in spec for Porsche.

3 transmission replacements is ridiculous by any standard. You got a lemon for sure. I can't speak to other GM cars since this is my first.

If you are done with GM for good, as I am with LandRover (similar story as yours), go get a Porsche. The lemon ration (they do have them) is far lower than with GM.

I have a new 2017 Acura RDX with 5k miles which is shifting erratically, notchy, lurches etc..
Service manager just drove it 17 miles said its normal!
I then drove a demo one off the lot & it was worlds apart!

Not sure why people/places can't/won't admit when there is an issue..
I call it being lazy....
They just don't want to exert any effort!

I wonder how many of those who defend the car would continue to do so if they were experiencing the same problems as the OP. I for one have had very few issues in three years and none with the manual transmission. Having said that, if I was experiencing what the OP is I think I'd feel the same as him.
