Default 2018 has digital readouts in track display

This was a previous complaint that has been addressed. You now get digital temp readings in the track mode screen where they were previously only in touring.

That's a huge improvement! Always thought those vague bars in Track mode were useless.

I guess it's too much to hope for that those software changes be integrated into previous years displays as an update.

This beats memorising the correlations between the readouts in sport/touring to the bar location in track mode.

About time! Anyone know if this will this be available to older models with a flash at the dealer by chance?

Doesn't the "S" on the bottom indicate Sport Mode?

Yeah, but you can choose a default display for all modes.

Tadge has previously stated with other software changes (PDR was the question I believe, or it may have been the infotainment) that they do not look backwards. There are far too many complexities for them to try and manage a software change to previous model years, sounded like they just deal with any major issues and that's it.

Can't hurt if it gets asked, but my guess is that if you like it that much you'll need to buy an '18, like you needed an excuse? :-)

Tesla and others are pushing the threshold on this. But I'm with you, I don't totally buy it if the systems are designed properly, but this is the way of the automotive industry.

That said, I think the answer will stand either way. There are some things that just can't be done with simple software, but the ones that can you would think they could / would.

Well if they aren't going to provide a fix for the Z06 overheating and the 8L90 torque converter they could at least pick the low hanging fruit and provide a simple software update. Certainly there are some things that require additional hardware, like adding Carplay to the initial HMI, but newly formatted display information for an existing screen isn't one of the items requiring new hardware. But I am not holding my breath since my 2016 Z06 doesn't have engine coolant temp as an optional pocket gauge on the sport display even though it loses the dedicated gauge in favor of the virtually useless manifold pressure gauge; it gets the same basic IP software as the regular Stingray.

Yep, I bought it on east coast and drove to west coast. It would have more miles if some control modules weren't malfunctioning and stopping the rear diff from locking.

Yes, my door was open. Did you want me to take this photo while driving. I actually did, but it was on different phone.

Sorry about that, I meant the track display theme.

They will not make an update for older models simply because doing that costs money and there is very little to gain from it. Basically it's the greedy way of looking at it.
