I'm spending a Friday PM to Monday AM weekend at my pal's Jersey shore place, it's literally right on the dunes on LBI. I'm paranoid about brining my new Corvette there what with the sand, wind, salt air etc. I kind of don't want to do it. BUT it would be a ZILLION more times fun with the car there, that's why I got it after all.

Am i being unreasonably OCD about the car paint? Part of me says 'leave it home' the other part says 'STFU you moron, it's a little red Corvette, OF COURSE you should take it down to LBI on a July weekend.'

I mean, what could happen?

A lot of things could happen, including enjoying the car. I had my new 2016 in the Outer Banks within a week of picking it up in Bowling Green. I had XPEL put on it after the trip.

Now if you are expecting high winds and flying sand, my response would be different.

I had my 2018 Grand Sport there on July 4th weekend that was a week after picking it up from the dealer, you'll be fine.

No, your car's finish will be fine. The world's largest Corvette dealer is nearly on the beach in NJ with most of the inventory sitting outside. I would be more concerned about where the car was being parked whilst I was sleeping, swimming, falling down, and so on. Have fun be safe.

It's a car, thousands more just like it sitting on dealers lots for months on end. Use it, enjoy it!

I took my Z to the Outer Banks, within a month after I got it, had it Xpeled before I went. Drive the crap out of it, it will be no more than if it was a garage queen. The Vette at the beach is a blast.

Just wash it when you return and it'll be fine. You want to rinse the undercarriage too after a beach trip, this is a place automatic car washes are valuable, perhaps a good touchless option.

The paint used on the corvette is not any different than the use used on a car 1/4 the cost. It won't melt.

My Corvette and I live on the beach. You'll be fine for a few days. It's almost entirely plastic and aluminum to boot.

I'm down in Atlantic City and Ocean City at least twice a week. Nothing to be concerned about. Now if it was during a winter storm and your car was sitting outside unprotected for weeks on end...it could be a valid concern but it's been beautiful out with barely a breeze. You'll be fine.

He keeps his car in the garage. Nice house, pretty new, like 3000 sf. Best spot on LBI, on the dunes. Has to be worth $3 million +. His parents bought the original house there c. 1973 for like $39K. He knocked the old house down and built the new one about ten years ago.

Simply use a strong hose to wash the sand off when you get home. Use water well before you apply a rag or washmitt to the car to avoid grinding the sand particles into the clear coat. And if you really are ****, as I am, claybar it after washing it.

Drive 'er, and enjoy your trip. I've had mine at Myrtle Beach for weeks without a problem. Oh it will get that nasty salt air coating on it, but a good wash when you get home will take care of that.
