Default Air intake flow

How does the air intake flow to the engine air filter? Does it come from the from grill or under the car? Air filter faces the right front fender but where does it come BEFORE that point. I can't find a picture!

Loosen the complete front section and half of the further back clips and screws of the passenger side front plastic wheel house.

Pull the wheel house away from and down from the front bumper cover. You need to do this with the rf wheel off. lie on your back with your head close to the cavity and look up toward the rear of the headlight. You will see a tapered opening and if you look high enough with a bright led light, you will see the tip of the air filter.

FWIW just looked above the right wheel at the inner fender well and you can see the bulge up top where the air cleaner comes in the space between the inner and outer fender well.

From BJ67's post #4 air is coming in from a tapered gap leading from the front bumper.

Are you looking above the right front wheel with the wheel on and the inner fender still in place? . You will not see the path of air flow until you can see the area behind or under the right headlight on the inside of the inner fender behind the grill.

You have to take the intake filter housing off to see the tunnel that the air flows up, but it is pretty small and resides under the fender connection point.

It's easy to see if you just take the housing off.

Is it possible to get the air filter wet if driving in heavy rain?

Have done that when I installed an aFe low restriction air intake system. Just thought for the OP would mention you can see the bulge on the inner fender well.

I believe the OP wants to see where the air comes in from out front which is in the big cavity behind the right corner of the blocked grille opening and under/behind the bumper cover. Look up and see the tapered duct.

No way possible, you would have to be going thru 2 feet of water to even worry about it.
