Default Ron Fellows Driving school

Good evening
I upgraded to a 2017 GS automatic. Attending the 2 day driving school.
I am looking for comments from past attendees as well as what to do/take or not to do/take

I assume most drivers will spend sometime in Vegas . Looking for best option to go to and from the school to Vegas
Thank you

Bring a 32 gig SD card, and rent a car at the airport.
When I go back I will stay at the school or in Pahrump, because it's a pretty good drive to Vegas, the days start early, and it's certainly not something you want to do with a hangover.

I got a condo in Vegas for a week but spent the 2 nights at Spring Mountain and then back to Vegas to try and win back the money I lost the first 3 days.
Not a whole lot to do at night in Pahrump other than dinner and socializing. Get a good nights sleep the night before and after the first day. If it's hot drink lots of water.

During my visit this summer you got $50 off at the store and a 16gig SD card for the PDR. Verify if that deal is still going when you sign up.

I've done the school twice and stayed in Vegas, from the strip the drive isn't too bad. That way I was able to get a proper dinner and work in a few hours of craps. Plus with the time change I'm waking up at like 4am anyways so getting to the track with plenty of time isn't a problem.

I'd bring an SD card for the PDR (you can buy them in the gift shop if you forget). I'm sure some would disagree with me but I'd recommend a pair of driving shoes. I found some at the Puma outlet store for $50 so it's not a huge investment and I use them for regular track days.

It would also be a good idea to call and see which track configuration you'll be running so you can get familiar with it ahead of time.

I've been 2 times, but both were 3 day advanced courses, so can't give you a lot of info on the 2 day Owner's class, but I'll be doing that one myself soon, as I'm picking up my new 2018 ZO6 on Wednesday. Vegas is about 45-50 minute drive, but I'd stay in one of the condos right at the track, they're very nice. Ask for one of the larger ones on the top floor. As far as food, the best place in Pahrump is Symphony at the Pahrump Winery, it's about 5 minutes from the track, very good food and the Winery has daily tastings. As other guys have said, bring a big SD card to record your laps on the PDR, and from what I've heard for the Owners class they put in a similar car to what you own, so a GS auto should be no problem. They have head socks and helmets, if you have driving shoes bring them, but if not sneakers are OK. First rate operation, the facilities, track and staff are all excellent, you'll love the experience, so enjoy!! Afterwards, maybe spend a few days in Vegas before heading home.

You select your car type when you make your reservation. They may or may not have your desired car on your date so the earlier you reserve the better chance you have of getting what you want when you want.

For example, I got the last GS available on my dates.

I did the 2 day owner's class last month. Both days will take up most of your day. They start around 0730 and finish up between 1600 and 1700. We stayed at the condo on site. Symphony at the Winery is a must do while there. The GS inventory is small so you may have to adjust your schedule if you can't get one when desired. As has been said the school is a 5 star experience. The staff, from the gift shop to the bartender, are first rate. We're going back next summer for the 3 day course. Enjoy!!

I won't repeat what's in all the other threads. I attended last Fri/Sat and there's one thing I learned that I didn't read beforehand: if you want anything besides water to drink in your condo in the evening, buy something at a local convenience store before heading into the facility. It's not like a hotel where you can always find something. The bar closed at 7:30-ish each night, and they shut down the complimentary soda fountain around 8pm. So - if you want to hang out and watch TV at 9pm while drinking something, bring it with you.

Just FYI, the 16G card had more than enough capacity for the 2-day Owner's Course, and I recorded every session.

It was a great time. Have fun!

No sense spending the time and money and not being in good condition to enjoy yourself
Thank you

So, it looks like there is no alternative to renting a car to get to Pahrump from LAS?

I prefer to drive but from ML, I'd fly.

Wife and I may be the only folks on earth that hate Vegas.

Pretty much. No shuttles and a taxi would be $$$.

All the instructors we talked to said they drive in from Vegas every day. Too bad they don't have a program to provide rides.
