Exactly - Not claiming it's anyone here, but I have no idea why people are grasping straws with a C8 release date for the 2019 MY. If this vehicle that we've been seeing in pics and vids is the ZR1 (which might not even see a 2018 MY release), there's no way Chevy's going to announce it only for it to be shelved months later. That's a recipe for disaster with a side of stupid. Even when the C7 was announced, I believe it had at least 18 months before it was officially released. Meaning by all accounts:
a) No C8 for the 2019 model year
b) Get the C7

Rumors and speculation helps sell auto magazines so live for the moment and buy the C7. By the time any of the future stuff happens, you will be in a position to trade + have the additional fun of driving the C7.

Wait for the Elon Musk C10. It will be either a flying car or an underground version.

I believe in living for today, especially while you have your health and means. No one knows what tomorrow brings and that too includes the C8! Right now is a great time to buy a C7!

First, good sir, thank you for using "advice" and "advise" properly in your OP (personal pet peeve I guess as most people cannot properly use or even differentiate advice from advise).
Then there's looks and personal preference. I've had a couple 5th gen Camaros, loved the retro muscle car look of the 5th, but absolutely hated the looks of the 6th gen. Hence, finally bought my dream car, a vette. Point is, in my eyes at least, the C7 is gorgeous. Who knows how I'll feel about the C8? Maybe it looks terrible to me, or you for that matter? Life's too short to wait sir, buy and enjoy now.

The ZR-1 is a mega horsepower C7.
I do believe you'll see a mid-engined Corvette variation in showrooms within two years, but I firmly believe GM will float that car as a possible replacement for the Z06, and possibly the foundation of a future two-tier Corvette platform with a $100K+ ME higher end car and a future 2022-24 C8 that will remain front engine and rear or all wheel drive: but the motor will stay where it is so the car is EASY TO LIVE WITH. You lose sight of that last point and watch Corvette sales volume drop in half. I wouldn't be driving one if I could't put gear in the back.
All speculation on my part of course, but there's no real reason to replace the C7 sooner, pound for pound you can argue the it's the best handling sports car in the world, look at the lap times on race tracks around the world where the various versions of the car (from Z51 Stingray through Z06) consistently run faster than much pricier mid engined exotics. Sales are strong, the recent softness is a combination of the car no longer being a hot new model (all car designs are stronger in years 1 through 4 than years 5 through 10) and a general trend towards SUVs and away from sedans and coupes.
So yes you should go buy a new one if you have the money and you can do it. I have 5500 miles on the C7 I picked up last December 19th, love the car (2017 C7 Coupe, M7, Z51, Transparent Roof, Nav/PDR). It's a Ferrari for the rest of us.
