Any opinions of aftermarket Chrome wheels
Anyone have experience with any of the aftermarket or reproduction chrome wheels that are advertised all over internet? Appreciate any opinions.

Disgusting. Even the factory ones look like junk. Unless of course you live in the ghetto and are trying to impress the locals then by all means go for it

Any opinions
That didn't take long for douche to appear.. Some like the honda spar tire look but just saw a post about polished HRE wheels on here. And I think black chrome looks good and the nickel also....

Hey - so chrome is his thing. Different strokes for different folks - it's what makes the world go round, right???
OP - I believe there is a vendor on the forum - House of Wheels out of Fort Lauderdale, FL. I've heard nothing but good things about him - happy hunting!

Yep, as anticipated, this thread quickly went down hill.
Anyway, aftermarket chrome anything has always been a crap shoot in terms of quality. Many aftermarket chrome reproduction wheels have been know to have pitting issues and other surface irregularities as they are, after all, after-market reproductions based on cast produced wheels.
If you're planning to spend the coin on aftermarket wheels, spend a little more and get some nice forged wheels where you can practically create the finish you want and avoid the chrome plating process entirely.
Good luck!

For the record I am not a chrome guy, but why do I care if other people like it and hate black wheels?
They didn't buy my car, and I sure as hell am not planning on buying theirs.

I like the factory wheels, be it black or chrome..... Depending on the cars color would be dependent on my choice, I have Long Beach Red with black wheels, I like how when you look at the car you see it and not focused on a shiny wheel. White or Silver I like chrome, but I do like the factory wheels I think they are a nice style on the C7's.

The reason why the wheel industry is seeing less and less chrome is because for one the chroming process adds a significant amount of weight, which for any performance wheel manufacturer isn't ideal. Secondly chrome over time can create rust, which obviously nobody wants.
Best bet to ensure that you're getting a high quality reflective finish without the negatives of chrome like weight and durability is to go with a Polished finish. Luckily, we've just recently brought our Polished finishes back and they're here to stay. Take a look

^^^ I agree about the polished finish alternative. What's nice is that you can polish them up to have a mirror, chrome like finish, yet in the event you ever slightly kiss a curb, you can literally wet-sand them smooth by hand and re-polish them to a new appearance.

Got these from Florida Speed Shop, a forum vendor. In addition to great service I've had zero issues with my wheels. There are others here with similar experiences...

Its the Pits
After market chrome wheels are either pitted or will be. Not sure that OEM's aren't the same?

I put chrome ZR1 wheels on my C6 and Chrome Z06 wheels on my 2014 C7. Both purchased from West Coast Corvettes and I had zero issues or problems with them. I'm thinking about getting Chrome wheels for my 2017 GS but the Black wheels (which I can take or leave) make the car look so sinister. And now that I've replaced the brake pads with ceramic, dust is no longer an issue. Good luck with your decision. In the end, it's your car. Do what makes you happy.

I have repro (non-GM) chrome rears from NORCAL-SS. I've only got 5000 miles of non-weather driving on them, but they've held up fine. The chrome on the factory wheels is no prize-winner anyway (probably chromed in China for all I know). It's like the chrome is "fogged" onto the GM wheels and barely covers the lug section well at all. The repros are no worse.
Now with the useful information out of the way, let me join in the fun!
Chrome is OK. Polished or painted silver/aluminum is probably the safest way to go. Black wheels looks like *** on most colors of these cars, particularly with bumble bee yellow.
