They said at Spring Mountain that the GS times were nearly as good as the Z06 especially in wet conditions. In dry, I could see the Z06 pull me on the straights. Not huge but more horsepower on the track is certainly preferred

Of course.
No need for that extra 190hp or monster torque advantage coming out of the turns. Should be just about equal...
just like saying a car of similar weight, aero and design with only 270hp runs about as good as a C7 GS around a track.
sounds more like driver's not getting the most out of the car. Pretty sure better drivers are getting much more out of the Z06 than a GS in Every situation M7 Z06 to M7 or A8 GS. A8 Z06 weather dependent results.
the times are all over the mags and web. Along with plenty of video. It's Z51 GS Z06 and at some point will undoubtedly be ZR1.

If it's not a HP track the Z has a tougher time stretching its legs. All things equal the Z06 is capable of a faster lap no doubt. But out in CA, with track temps often in the triple digits, supercharged cars hate life. NA is just better for any serious track use.

The Stingray Z51, C7Z06, C7GS can all pull similar lap times when driven by most of us. Power doesn't help a damned bit getting around a corner and if not used properly can actually slow a lower performing driver who doesn't know how to handle the extra power.

IMO, Lime Rock is a club track, not a proper racetrack.
It's barely a mile long.
The C7.R can do it in 50 seconds.

That's short, I complain about our 2.25 mi being too short.

The z06 will be faster with the same driver until it starts pulling timing. Here is an example from car and driver's lightning lap:

Horsepower is nothing more than torque corrected for rpm. If cars had been invented in the Middle East, maybe we would be discussing Camel Power. Because horsepower is derived by multiplying torque by rpm and then dividing by 5252, horsepower will continue to climb while torque is decreasing, but it is still just torque.

What I would be interested in is a comparison of lap times between the C7 Z06 at the beginning of a session versus the end when the SC has some heat into it.
At what point does it start loosing power? 15 minutes, 20? or can it go a full 30 minutes.

The Z06/7 will be faster than the GS/Z07. What I'd find interesting is comparing a GS/Z07 to a Z06 non Z07. Does better handling and braking trump the added 190 HP?

To Quote BrunoTheMellow (without the large graphic)...
"The z06 will be faster with the same driver until it starts pulling timing. Here is an example from car and driver's lightning lap:"
when/why does it pull timing? is this a result of the SC getting hot?

Yes, but not easily. You'd need a very hot day to make up the difference but it will probably overheat before getting slow enough.

Yes that would be interesting and they are probably close to equal, but still you can throw more money at any car and get better performance. Money is better spent on driver training though.
