Did you even read the ariticle that you posted? Perhaps you can read it again and "articulate" the comparisons since you infer that they are similar.

Best way to put this for anyone who has driven both or all three models is:
the Grand Sport is a Z06 with training wheels....period.
a buddy just grabbed a grand sport and first thing out of his mouth was "there's nothing I can do to even bring this car near any edge...it needs more power"
that's all a grand sport is... a Z06 at 2/3 throttle. Say you want to push a Grand Sport the limiting factor is HP.. i can go wot when temps are above 65f and tires warm anytime I like. And when I tell you it's like the earth moving under your *** I'm not lying.
again, anyone who has gotten out of a Z06 and said "whoa, I can't handle this" i respect that honesty and swallowing your pride. But please don't insult our intelligence with this Grand Sport is the "better corvette". It used to have merit before convertible and removable top Z06. Not anymore.
wot. Today. Notice no TC or stability flashing? In it to win it.a Grand Sport could only dream of what this power plant is capable of in stock v stock form.
To commemorate turning 2k miles.

After reading the title I can say, move along...nothing to read here... Z06 is the ultimate vette until the ZR1 comes out.

Hint: When literally everyone disagrees with you, the odds are pretty good that it's you, not everyone else, who's wrong.

If I am not mistaken, doesn't the Z06 have everything the GS has plus 190 HP.

The GS is a great car but in the end the Z06 is the real deal. Power, performance, looks it has it all.

I can afford a Z06. That's not the point.
For me it came down to this. How often can I actually use the (admittedly, far superior) power of the Z06? The answer: Not much unless you're one of those people who feel the need to street race at every stoplight. I'm not one of those people.
My conclusion: It's not worth $20,000 for power I can rarely, if ever, use outside of a track.

For street driving wouldnt the base stingray be faster in a straight line and overall street use over the GS since its the same power but doesnt have all the extra crap on it thats slowing it down?

Here is some real data: https://www.autotrader.com/car-revie...d-sport-255904
Base C7: 3156 lbs.; 0-60 = 4 sec; quarter = 12.2 sec
Grand Sport: 3252 lbs.; 0-60 = 3.6 sec; quarter = 11.8 sec
Z06: 3350 lbs.; 0-60 = 2.95; quarter = 10.95 sec
Bottom line:
Since all C7s are limited in off the line traction, the Grand Sport 335 section width rear tires beat 285 on base C7 with even 100 more lbs.
The Z06, still with limited off the line traction shows more power with 335 section with tires can make up a lot more that the base with ~200 more pounds.
Note: Weights appear a bit light; assume little gas and all none attached items-removed! Probably cup tires on Grand Sport and Z06.

Looking at the numbers at Car And Driver it looks like the Z51 and GS post almost identical numbers for launching, 1/4 mile, etc.
GS has the advantage in braking and skidpad due to larger brakes/tires.

I went with a Z51 2015 coupe instead of a Z06.

Does it really matter which is better? As long as you like what you purchased and are happy then enjoy it. I have a GS, don't feel the need for the extra HP where I live it's useless.
Oh, and I can afford the Z06, I love how finances always come into it... Someday that money can go away and you will only be able to afford a base Camaro!

Look, the C7 comes in 3 versions aimed to appeal to the vast majority of potential buyers.
Stingray = for the guy or gal who is primarily interested in style over performance.
GS = for those who want an NA and loves great fun thru the twisties.
Z06 = for dudes who want the biggest and baddest.
Of course, these are just short & sweet descriptions and YMMV.

As a track enthusiast, I'd take the GS all day over the Z06/07.
FI just complicates things, more weight in the wrong place, more cooling needed. Plus the power of the GS is more than enough for most track rats. This is coming from someone that used to have a forced inducted track car (ZL1) and traded it for a N/A C7.
