Carbotech 1521
So I am finally at the point where the stock pad brake dust is driving me nuts. It seems like the carbotech 1521 is the pad that most enjoy as a replacement. Can anyone suggest the best/cheapest place to pick up a set?
Thanks.
Thanks.

This is a PDF of my experiences and why I switched back to what worked better than even than the OEM pads when cold http://netwelding.com/Ceramic_Pads.pdf
When hot the cheaper Powerstop pads were fine and understand many like them but IMO the extra cost for the Carbotech 1521 pads is worth the price if you're not tracking.
We have a supporting forum vendor, Adam who provides a discount on these made in the US Carbotech pads. Yep they cost more but IMO worth the price, it's small compared to the cost of your Vette and brake performance, IMO, suggest you contact him to get the right part numbers: http://ampdautosport.com/

I just had the Powerstop Z26 pads installed on my 2017 GS at 2,000 miles because of the excessive dust issue. There is a noticeable difference in braking sensitivity that I'm getting used to. The original factory pads were really sensitive. I barely touched the pedal to stop. The Powerstop pads are a tad less sensitive but they work fine for my needs. And there is absolutely no more dust. I paid $138 plus dealer installation. Good luck with your decision.

I got the 1521s from Adam and I am totally satisfied with the stopping ability and the fact that my chrome stays chrome and not a black powder mess.

Yep, Carbotech 1521s here, and very pleased with them. It's clear the Powerstop crowd feels they are stopping just fine, and I'm sure they are in trips to the grocery store.
I guess time will tell. There's always a reason when a product is ridiculously inexpensive.

Power Stop pads have turned my rotors brown !!!! I have tried to contact Power Stop about the problem and they have never returned my phone calls or E-Mails !!!! Their tech support must still be on Vaction !!!!

Hmm . . . looks like you actually use your car as a car. I suspect many have not seen that yet, because similarly-equipped cars are usually sitting in the garage.

If you are going to install them yourself, 'that' Adam guy (Forum vendor I believe) is where I would turn. He is very helpful in answering questions and getting back to you. For the reasons outlined below I did not end up buying from Adam, but in my email exchanges with him I found him to be great..........came across as top notch.
If you are having someone else install them, it may be best to discuss this with the installer 1st. They may have their own source, and more importantly, they may want to order them directly from Adam or whatever the source. My installer insisted on ordering them himself to avoid any unforeseen problems. For example, what if the pads I gave him were defective? The wrong size? Etc., etc.? In such cases, I would have ended up in the middle with the installer and supplier. With the installer buying them directly, I was 100% out of the loop if any problems arose. Note, my installer was a tire and wheel guy, not a Chevy dealership (I wouldn't hesitate to buy from Adam if a Chevy dealer was doing the install).

PS......I forgot to mention..............the pads are just like Adam claimed them to be. I have NO noise; I found NO difference in performance (no tracking); and the dust is down at least 95%. I put Rejex on my rims once at the start of each season, and use a Swiffer to clean them off about every 3rd time I head out (wheels must be cool and not hot, so I don't clean the rims when I put the car away). Most of the time I can't see any dust on the rims, but the Swiffer picks some up.

After 2 1/2 years of having Carbotech pads stop better than my Z51 OEM pads when cold I was disappointed in the Powerstop Z26 pads. After 900 miles of giving them a chance, bought and installed Carbotech 1521 pads over a month ago. I'm back to great stops with less and predictable pressure with cold pads.
I have a somewhat unique requirement as after a 2 miles slow trip from my home I enter a divided 4 lane highway that has a lot of fast traffic. Especially now with folks going to Myrtle Beach that is a road they use coming from I 95! After entering I make a turn onto another rural road and need to stop quickly. The Carbotech pads do a great job and are very predictable!
Every time I leave my house have this turn I make onto a rural road after entering a 4 lane divided highway with traffic traveling 65 to 70 mph. Actually a fun turn with brake pads that stop great when cold. Carbotech 1521's fit the bill!

Carbotech 1521 upgrade
Just wanted to thank Adam (Adam@Amp'dAutosport.com) for his help and patience working with me on my Carbotech 1521 upgrade. I'm certainly looking forward to reduced wheel dust on my 17 GS.
Thanks, Adam

That's the one question I wanted to interject as I was reading this thread. After little over a month on my C7, I'm already getting tired of brake dust and considering replacing the pads. When I bought my C6 Grand Sport years ago, I changed the brake pads early on to stop dust for a Hawk pad, IIRC. Dust was somewhat reduced, but the brake squeal drove me nuts the rest of the time I had it no matter what I tried.
I never hear a peep from my stock pads so far...so the Carbotechs are just as quiet?

I did not have a peep for the 2 1/2 years I had them on my 2014 C7 Z51 and now on my Grand Sport.
This is a PDF of my install FWIW: http://netwelding.com/Ceramic_Pads.pdf
PS: FWIT when I had ~1000 miles on the OEM pads on my C7 Z51 I had loud squealing on thoe pads. Bedded them with ~10 aggressive stops as out lined in the Owner's Manual and never a peep in the ~1 year I kept those pads. A year too long!

install; Carbotech 1521’s
Just did my install; Carbotech 1521’s. Easiest brake job I’ve ever done. My wife helped out. She washed and waxed each wheel as I did the brakes. I always finished the brakes for that wheel before she was done with the wax. Also, I can’t stress enough the value of the Reverse Logic guide pins to re-install the wheel; https://www.reverselogic.us/shop.htm...tegory=4643105
Some people use 3 pins, I just use 2 and it’s simple. Brakes are quiet so far, hopefully I experience low dust as everyone else has. Just a few tips; New recommendation is no bedding and my C7 GS had shims but none are used for the 1521’s. Good luck with your install, as I said, piece of cake.
Thanks again Adam
