Dealer test drive abuse my Vette

Ignore the "get a lawyer" BS advice. People consistently throw this out like it great advice when in fact it's terrible advice. Any lawyer worth his salt would not take on a case like yours and if you did find one it will cost you a small fortunate and for what?
Work directly with the owner at the very least you can get that clown who drove your car fired.

Can't count how many times my Camaro has been above 140mph. My vette has been north of 150 on several occasions. Both cars are still in the garage, still with the original drivetrains in both. Nothing melted, nothing warped. The only problem every time this happens is the effort it takes on my part to wipe the stupid permagrin off my face.

Point taken but for what i paid for this pristine car that still smells new btw, I think I should be the one who exercises MY Corvette. Not by some unknown. I would never drive someone else s car like this, even with permission because my luck it would break on me and I being the stand up guy I am would have to fix it. JS

Ok, I'm ready to post the vids. How should I upload these two vids so that it gets the attention of all my fellow Corvette owners and enthusiast who have taken the time to participate in this discussion with me. New thread or just add to this conversation?
Before I upload them i want to say this. I have read every ones post and have looked at the videos several times. Yes I agree my Vette wasn't driven beyond what it's designed for. But this is MY Car and I take a great deal of pride in being able to own and drive one of these awesome machines. I have my style of driving them at this point in my life and I expect whom ever I let drive it to respect that and drive it accordingly.
This guy is a huge liability to this otherwise decent dealership so it will not be my intention to tarnish it but to warn it, if I even do it. Ive gleaned a lot of wisdom from my friends on here and have some thinking to do. I may confront the driver and take it from there or go to the top and bring it to their attention. As I see it these are my options. I don't expect anything big out of this. I'm a giver by nature not a taker. But I think most of you will agree something should be done here.

Just post them here, you have everyone's attention.
You also sound like a reasonable person, and I'd have been upset as well, but now that you've reflected a bit are making rational decisions. I do agree that the mechanic deserves some sort of warning, but I was also moved by the way Hopper described above how he handled a similar situation. Your mechanic could well be a very good guy, who briefly lapsed into stupidity.

it's not illegal to record a conversation... it's ILLEGAL to record ANY AUDIO, conversation or not, without the consent one, two or any amount of parties involved if YOU ARE NOT THERE and do not have the permission OR have signs displaying that the area is under AUDIO surveillance as in this case (Florida as well as every other state) and that's still a case by case basis as every state has no definitive case law regarding recording the oral audio of another without consent outside of the presence of the recording party if done purposely (versus your recorder was left on and later retrieved and inadvertently recorded a murder confession).
in short, the dashcam turned into a "room bug" .. which like any other live recorded AUDIO of a person unknowing of this fact, fall under the wiretapping legal definition
^^^ look it up. it's as easy as searching for it and reading it directly from the Federal and/or state Law documents on line. or stop by your local DA or prosecutor's office and ask someone who has a license to practice law and hear it for yourself.
the terms "conversation" and "wiretap" are used too loosely for anyone without the experience to follow and understand. my fault for taking that for granted.. change "conversation" to "oral" i.e. "spoken words", regardless of to whom, a dog, a bird, even themselves.. etc.
PS. even text messages fall under a "wiretap" capturing emails as they're sent same thing.. even though there are no words spoke.. it's strange and maybe one day will be labelled so that it's easier to understand. but it's not and it isn't... email interception a wiretap? yep... email recovered from archives? nope.. see the difference.. goes much deeper but who cares?
moral of the story.. don't record audio if you aren't a part of what's going on.. then you're safe. in a one party state.. two party state wear a sign on your forehead..otherwise you're screwed.
as much as you like to respond to my posts I have no problem further breaking it down to help you.

Does the FACT that Not ONE Word was uttered on these Videos that I'm going to upload? Seems like a lot of wasted discussion on "Wire tapping" laws when there is NO Conversation!!!! Watch the vids! Am I missing something here?

I don't think you're missing anything. Too many got hung up on the legality of the recording in a court of law and couldn't see the forest for the trees here. The biggest issue you'd have if you went legal is proving damages.
Also, BTW, if your video clearly shows that this mechanic is weaving in and out of traffic at high speeds, potentially endangering others, I wouldn't be quite as inclined to go easy on him. In that case, I'd be having a discussion with the big boss at the dealership.
I had a feeling you might run into trouble direct posting videos here. Most upload to a place like YouTube, and use a link, but that would compromise your ability to settle this quietly with the dealership.

Unless you're one of the major players on YouTube with a large number of followers the video will get lost in the shuffle, and very doubtfully do anyone harm. If you don't want it to.
Just be careful how you title it.
Don't use the dealerships name, or refer to abuse.

My comment is separate from my feelings on a yokel driving your Vette like alleged. That's seriously messed up and would have me livid too!

I'm on your side, I drive mine hard sometimes (not the new one yet), but it's mine. Techs test drive to "test" the work they've done, or as a result of something they see from an inspection. This was just a joy ride. Would the tech let you take his for a hard joy ride?
Shame is, you've found out something that probably happens a lot more than we realize.
If it were me, I'd spend the money to pay the right attorney for an hour of their time, just to know what the legal implications may be. Attorneys also have seen and heard lots, might just get some good advise too.

like others have said, take the two minutes it takes to start a YouTube channel and upload there. I do it for family friends car shows so much easier than dealing with storing the video long time of (not in this case) not so interesting or important video on home devices or digging out the portable HD.
maybe a title like "C7 in for repair joy ride" should clear most hurdles and draw a lot of attention if you strike out at dealer and don't receive a satisfactory response.
no description, just title and post. Can always go back and edit to include more details later.

If I had a rear end replaced I would want them to verify that the repair was solid under a range of conditions. Same guy would be bitching if he got down the road and there was an issue with the new rear due to no test drive.

^^^^ Hammering a new rear diff is the worst way to break it in.
