Default Battery tender

You would think they would have a hole to get the battery maintainer into the back without having to leave hatch up or one where you could pull a plug out to get it up into the hatch area? Thanks

I have winter stored my 2016 Stingray with battery cable and trunk lid closed. No issues.

Like Cape Cod Vette said you can close the hatch/trunk on the wire. It will not hurt the car or the wire. I have done it for years and I had a coup and a vert! I store for winter so it sits that way for at least 5 months!

No hole is needed, and leaving a hole where water or exhaust gas could potentially enter the vehicle is a very bad idea.

it's not too hard to close the hatch on the wire.

But has anyone rigged a quick connect somewhere under the car?
So that the hood or trunk wouldn't need to be opened.

Put the passenger window down an inch and fish the wire thru there if you are worried about it.

maybe I should clarify.

plugging it in and closing the trunk is not hard. But maybe there is an easier way to to it by NOT having to open the car up in any way.

IE. a quick connect run underneath the car somehow

How is running wiring and having a disconnect underneath the car easier than opening the trunk or hatch?

Don't try to solve a problem that isn't really a problem.

I'd call not having to open a window, hood or trunk easier.

If you keep your car in a garage that's out of the weather and away from unauthorized tampering you may want to just keep the hatch ajar. After ~20 min. the ECU puts the car to sleep and lights and other functions are extinguished. I've done that for my previous and current C7s, as the tender is connected at all times in the garage.

Are there no jump connectors under the hood in the engine compartment?

There was an item for the C6 that used a magnet to connect the tender wire near the front grill, so if you forgot to unplug then it just disconnected itself as you backed out of the garage. Super easy to attach or disconnect, of course.

Not sure if they make a C7 version, or how difficult it would be to use the C6 version.

I have been closing the truck lid and worry about backing my GS out of the garage and forgetting the maintainer is still attached. I think leaving the hatch slightly open is a much better idea as the DIC should tell he the hatch is open - thus reminding me of the maintainer being attached.

Going to the garage now to open the hatch slightly.

That's a legitimate problem and I solved it by backing the car into the garage. That way I must walk over the charger wire and see it hanging out of the hatch as I approach the car door. Can't miss it and I've been doing it this way for several years without one lapse. The truck's connector is in the grill, so I park it front first for the same effect.

I've gotten good at backing the C7 into the garage with the truck present, and can do it as fast as coming in front first.

Since our C7 is a semi-daily driver, the tender isn't connected every day.
When it is connected, I plug it into the wall near the front of the car and use a long slender (less likely to trip) extension cord to the rear. The extension cord lays on the floor going past the driver door, so that's my reminder to remove the tender and put it back on the shelf at the front. So far, it works.

I use the magnetic connector that I had on my C6 on my C7. Hood, doors, and windows stay closed.

Yes, and I rigged a long connector wire in my C6 that I could tuck into a small cubby hole under the left front fender. Its battery was in the engine compartment and that worked great on that car, but the C7 has no such place to tuck the connector (AFAIK). So for my 2015 I used the same Deltran Battery Tender Plus with a lighter adapter. My current GS came with the CTek 3300 and I'm using it while dedicating the Deltran to my truck and Harley.

For my purposes the rear lighter connector on the C7 works best, but if you want to connect via the engine compartment I would go with Eboggs' elegant solution.
