When to stop modding your Vette?

Safety Car
a clear signal
I am done modding my '14 Z51 Conv 7MT 1LT (intake, exhaust, D shaped steering wheel and a few assorted cosmetic items). How do I know? It's called retirement (my last year teaching is this upcoming year)!

You people are scaring me. lol
I thought I could get away with bolt-ons and call it a day.
Should have some bolt-ons done by Friday.
I'm working on:
Halltech
Borla X
ported stock mani
ported stock TB
e85/tune
If my kids still don't think it feels fast after everything above I'm going to log 40-100 in both cars and see what h*ll's going on. lol
...but seriously the car needs another 75hp.

Just did the mods listed above.
Only negative is now I have the dreaded intake whistle. Not sure what is causing it but I will need to eliminate it.
Also was able to test the wife's SUV 40-100mph time.
4.71 seconds on the first try.
So I have my hands full trying to match her time, but at least I have a goal now.

A&A SC with meth, Corsa Extreme and xpipe. California is restricting me doing anything else to the powerplant.

When the mods you're thinking about making, will make it "No longer really a Corvette".
Like the guys who swap out their modern rear differentials and IRS, for 9" Ford pumpkins and solid axles, to make them better drag racing cars.
YMMV, of course.

Finally got some numbers.
Made 433 with the mods listed above on Tune Time's Mustang dyno.
That's is typically around 480+ based on the local dynojets.
Thanks to Matt at Tune Time Performance.

I asked myself this same question. At the time I was putting on a Halltech intake, ARH long tubes, ported throttle body, and a tune. Then I took the plunge and bought a blower, and single nozzle meth. That wasn't enough, so I went with a smaller pulley and doubled the meth. Still not enough. Where did that get me? Well, I ended up pulling the motor and rebuilding it in my home garage with all kinds of goodies. This landed me around 830 RWHP. The car scares the **** out of me when I floor it now.. and of course in my mind I'm like "put a bellmouth on the blower for 2 more pounds of boost...."
What does this mean? Modding never stops for car guys... you simply start to loose you edge and willingness to court death as you get older..

This video sums up why I'm modifying my GS for more reasons than one.
The GS comes in second to last and my wife's daily driver is the bigger cousin to the Tesla model S that came in first.
Kids are still saying mom's car is faster after the bolt ons I did. I think I have another 25 whp to go and some perfect driving to edge her. We'll line up at Atco this fall when the weather is good which can only help me.

Rob I told myself I wasn't doing nothing to the c7 well that went out the window within a few months of getting it.
First went with a ton of C.F. piece's then headers, stuff like that then the A/A TI meth & smaller pulley but will not now go inside the motor. Not doing a cam or nothing unless the motor goes on me. Then will only do a forged bottom end with stock cam & then do the lt4 inj & pump & call it a day..... Robert

When your wife tells you enough is enough! How to get around this? Me, I am sending her on her cool vacation to Japan for 4 weeks. LT4 Supercharger going in with new goodies. Then be done till the next vacation trip! HeHeHEEEEE!
Oh, do stop before your car looks ricer or looks like a poster child for a vendor.

Starting out modding my cars back in 1963. Did a lot of projects, spent a lot of money over the years.
When I got my 05 6spd Vert I was going to have a supercharger put on by Callaway but as my car was a very bad DBS car I did nothing to it but keep it running.
Bought a 07 Z06 and did absolutely nothing to it but put on a custom built license plate surround. Bought my 15 Vert in March of 15 and did no mods at all, car is OK as it came from the factory, has decent power, wheels ETC. For the most part my modding days are over for cars, my 4x4 PU trucks will get what they need so I can work them well. (Plow, tonnau cover, trailer hitch stuff!)

i now factory option the way i want and enjoy as it is. great thing about todays cars is you can buy as much performance from factory as you desire with warranty and reliability. after 40 + years of twisting wrenches / modding i realized what i truly like the most about motor vehicles is driving / riding them.
