Sport Mode vs Track Mode.....

Sport Mode vs Track Mode.....
Hey Forum members.....Curious how many use the Track Mode on the streets? I have been using Sport Mode pretty exclusively and have not used the Track Mode yet. I've heard the stories of bent wheels and tire problems from using Track Mode on streets.

I drive mostly in NY/NJ/LI so I'm mostly Tour mode unless I'm on a highway, and then sport mode. Rarely if ever do I put it in track mode.

A lot of people don't realize that if you are Track PTM equipped (Z51 and above w/ MSRC), Track PTM/Wet puts the MSRC in Tour mode, and Track PTM/Dry puts it in sport mode.
I regularly use both Track PTM/Wet and Track/PTM Dry on the street. They are great settings.

So basically with the setup of PTM/DRY...I'm in Sport Mode with a Track Display?

Yes
One thing to note is that in PTM, you will have warning lights indicating TC and DSC are off, but they are not in PTM Wet or Dry and fully operational. The lights are just there to warn you that if you rotate the **** to Sport 2 or Race, you will have little or no nanny intervention.

During the Ron Fellows course, I recall the instructor telling us during the vehicle walk-around segment, not to use track mode on the streets. Said that it made the suspension too taught and you could damage a wheel if you hit a pothole.
Sport mode to me is fine for good streets...but typical around town driving I just leave it in Tour.

Also learned that when the street's wet, I better put it in Wet/Weather mode...

When Foosh showed me the light it changed my life. My last 12k street miles were PTM wet/dry.
I may be making this up but...when I was in tour or sport the throttle seemed to change. How annoying is that when you drive stick? Hard to remember what mode you are in and take off smoothly. Now I am always in PTM WET/DRY and it is consistent. Good throttle tip in and it doesn't change, I am always in PTM.

What the instructor said ONLY applies to regular Track mode before pressing the center console button twice to go into the Track PTM menu.

I use track on the streets 20-25% of the time. The rest is in sport. No issues with either.
Either way, not sure how anyone can stand driving in tour. The wheel is is ridiculously unresponsive..

Many of our roads are like war zones. Moreover, the steering in Tour is not unresponsive, in fact it's the opposite . . . a bit too responsive for spirited driving.

Ever since Foosh opened my eyes to the "Truth", I have run in Track PTM/Wet mode almost exclusively. Handles/rides great and I commute 100 miles/day on some of the suckiest and some of the most demanding roads in SoCal like the Ortega Highway and the 5! I've gotten over 30k miles on my MPSS tires with meat still left on them and no bent rims despite the numerous potholes that have been unavoidable.

unlink steering from driving mode and set it to track.
