Default Flying roof club--cheaper option

For all those in the flying roof club, there is a cheaper option than a 1600 replacement top.

I purchased this:

and spent about twenty minutes changing the hardware for less than half the price.

Perhaps post more details, like part number, cost, where you got it ect...

23412816 Window Asm-Rf Lift Off (Transparent)
COUPE, TRANSPARENT
$708.07

Available at most GM parts places with different names. Pricing varies. Your dealership can order as well and save some shipping costs.

A couple of screws and the handles and latches are transferred. The weatherstripping pulls off (no residue, formed around a metal piece). A couple of screws for the metal form and the transfer is complete when the weatherstripping is stretched back on.

Saved myself $1000 doing it this way.

That's not bad. Part of the reason I went vert is I was imagining damaging the top and the cost to replace. Assuming you can swap the hardware from a regular top, you might as well skip the clear option and add it once you get the car. Then you save a couple hundred bucks and have the original top just in case.

Im thinking this isnt for a "visible carbon roof" is it? Are there any options for a visible carbon roof other than buying a whole new roof?
Thanks!
