Default Blendmount for Uniden R3 is the only way to mount

The R3 is the best of the current radar detecting models available today. But mounting in the Vette is daunting. The window OE mounts on the windshield put it too far away from the driver. Mounting it on the rear view mirror puts it right in your face. I bought 2 mounts on ebay...window mounts..No good. BlendMount doesn't yet have a C7 mount for the R3 BUT you can use BND-2027 and it works. Uniden is redesigning this same mount for the R3. The aluminum mirror mount will stay the same..just the clip will be different. The R3 mounts perfectly..it just doesn't click on the clip..
the new clip will be longer..But this fit is sufficiently tight that it holds the R3 just fine. Uniden will send you the new clip when it becomes available..I won't even change mine out. JFYI

Good to know, thank! Been waiting for the R3 to get back in stock before I pull the trigger and on the waiting list for mount. I'm hopping it will be a nice upgrade from my 2008 escort xi9500.

Fellas,

I got an e-mail from Blendmount that the R3 clip is available for pre-order with an anticipated date of 1/22. However, when I tried to order, it's asking if I have one of the following mirrors:

Mirror ID#-CHE-007
Mirror ID#-CHE 010

I contacted them and left a message.

I thought all C7 mirrors were created equally? Does anybody know the correct mirror? I have a 2017 GS Convertible.

Thanks.

Here are the 2 different mirrors in the C7.

I noticed that too from the pics. I don't recall seeing that switch or whatever it is at the bottom of the mirror. Still not sure why C7's have 2 different mirrors...

I hope someone posts a pic once they receive their mount. I'm still on the fence, after waiting six months I've kind of gotten used to the cable across the dash.

I was on a trip over the holidays, and picked up KA band on my R3 at one point around 3 miles. I couldn't believe it. Most of the other pickups were around half mile to a mile. All were plenty of time to react.

I've been really impressed with this thing.

Why do you have the cable across the dash? Where did you mount yours?

Already have the R3 and it's impressive. I just wish it had the arrows like the V1. Hopefully Waze can pick up which direction.

It's official. Looks like I'm going with mirror model #: CHE-007.

I'm still curious as to who has the CHE-010 mirror and what that switch does.

The "switch" just looks like a day/night toggle to me.

Maybe on 1LT interiors since it doesn't have auto dim?

I have a 1LT, the switch is for high beams that people blast behind you. My last couple mustangs had the auto dimming mirror, was nice, but honestly I've rarely had to touch the switch in this car, think it's so low more people's lights are aimed higher.

One is auto dimming one is manual thus the switch below which may fowl the mount. Just buy the Auto Dimming mirror for the C7 only 135.00
and 5 minute change then your good! If you don't have it already!

I have been on the fence My (2) 9500ix's both give me 2 miles of range. Saves me daily seems plenty then it blocks the false's I also know right away if someone else's car is setting it off and not a cop.

No complaints. Any one of them goes off with laser you are ready been had. Laser requires watching way ahead real hard ahead. Glad they got lazy around here and only the cycle cops are using them. most all others still just go the easy way and radars.

Upgraded to R3 last year. Very happy with it and I would most certainly say that it is a huge upgrade over my older 9500ix.

I'm using the mount with two suction cups and it's about an inch above the dash using the cig plug that the unit came with.

If it bothers you a straight cord should easily tuck down between the dash and windshield. Then just hard wire it to the lighter or fuse 37.
