Trailer car from dealer to home. Put in garage and lock the door. Hopefully in 10 years you can sell it at auction for more than MSRP. I love my Corvette and drive it every day. Bumper was dinged in parking lot. Used touch up paint. It's just a car, albeit a special and fun car.

Can't imagine doing that and babying it all these years, but absolutely never driving it.

I agree with OP. While my Corvette is special to ME, in the final analysis, it is just a car. I'm going to drive it and enjoy it. I didn't buy my 2017 GS as an investment ... it's a poor choice if I did, many things are far better choices in the long run and I'll probably never live long enough to see the "long run" anyway.

I've been on the Forum (C5, C6 and now C7) for about 15 years and have seen every conceivable method to make the car as shiny as possible and to protect against and fix chips. In 2017 it's come down to buying the car, immediately installing Xpel, then applying ceramic coating and using the Novistrech protector for long trips. it's gettin' crazy out there!!

Good solutions here. Use protective film at least for front area, mirrors, door cups, etc. And yes, stocks and bonds are investments. You can't drive them. Just look at them. Anything you drive is not an investment. There are exceptions. I get that. But you won't be driving a car that is an investment. Enjoy it! At least it was nothing major and no one was hurt.

How and where you drive has quite a bit to do with degree of chips and road damage you receive.
Here's a 1986 Pace Car Convertible that I sold last year that only had 3400 miles on it. Basically a 30 year old showroom condition Corvette.

I always liked how about 50% of the car's body swings up and safely away to access the engine bay. Very accommodating if engine work is needed. Battery replacement on convertibles is not as accommodating as you have to remove the driver's side front lower rocker panel to get to it.

My experience is that when I trade my car even with the imperfections of driving it year round in snow in Ohio, it is still way above the average car being traded in. A well driven corvette is way above an average driven mini van.
Frankly I have traded 4 times and the dealer did not even take the car for a test drive, hardly looked at it beyond a tire inspection.
To the dealers these are just cars. Go out and enjoy them! Forget about dropping 2, 3, 4 K for xpel it adds no value to the car at trade in. No one sees the chips besides you when you wash the car, you do hand wash it right? Once you dry it off, drive it and enjoy!
I was over the top with my first Corvette, never drove it in the rain. Glad I got over that!

After having the rear fender panels on my '88 and '93 getting marked up from stones, bought contoured, matching paint splash guards for my '08 C6. Looked great when I sold it 6 years later.
For my September 2013 built Z51 bought GM Splash Guards. After about a month realized the fronts were of little help and could tell from where GM put the heavy plastic protection should not expect much help. Bought LG Motorsports full length, straight side skirts. After a few months realized they did the job so removed the marked up, discolored GM plastic protection. When I recently sold the car, the rocker panels and area in front of the rear wheels looked new!
When ordering my Grand Sport decided I wanted full length side skirts to provide the maximum rocker panel protection. Also wanted carbon fiber construction but painted carbon flash so ordered the GM Stage 2 aero package. Also, posters recommended the ACS front splash guards. Got those and the standard GM slash guards for the rear.
So far, in 3 months no issues. I do travel over an area right by my house where a gravel road intersects our paved road and pebbles are pulled onto the pavement. Can hear them hit the bottom of my side skirts as they did for 3 years in my 2014. However none come past to do any harm.
As I have with every car I have owned I park far away from other cars! In addition to no car dings, the exercise I get has provided ~100 pound weight loss or justifies fires at McDonalds!

I am not a fan of plastic wrap and prefer Dr. Color Chip

Skirts are HUGE Chip Protectors with Splash Guards.GM's hide well with the stock Splats. You did well on ordering what works best.
Waiting on delivery of full length Skirts.ACS has 2 skirt design's.One that has the bump in the design like GM.The other style is a gradual body line flow toward rear.Very Nice
1800 Miles on the GS no PPF.Have 1 chip near windshield.Go figure??
Zero on Nose. The Key is driving Habits.Following to close and hovering near vehicles on the Highway.
Either pass them of back-off..All this preparation is meaning less when that dump truck carrying a load of stone accidentally hits the Tailgate Open Switch.Right near ya

Dr. Color Chip is not magic! If small have to use a toothpick and put in multiple coats IMO. That "put on heavy, apply the smear stuff" doesn't work in one application!
Side skirts worked for me on my 2014 Z51 so ordered the GM Stage 2 aero when I got my Grand Sport. One reason was I wanted carbon fiber, painted carbon flash and I wanted to add Stage 3 winglets. The reason was I have not liked the look of Spats on the Z06/Grand Sport. But the ACS wider splash guards and the Stage 3 winglets help make the Spats look better, IMO!
