Yup, the Corvette tax.
Some cops are just jealous little punks...it's the way of the world.

I wonder how bad the LEO got his rear end "chewed" on for missing a court date. Around here I have heard the LEO's better not miss the court date. Anyway - CONGRATs

Likely more for riding the left lane than the 6MPH over. Stay in the right lane use the left lane to pass, then go back to the right lane. Left lane is not a "fast" lane regardless if your driving a C7, Ferrari or a Hyundai.
Yes, you won, but you had to go to court and waste your time doing that.
Many states have a "slow poke" law, he couldn't get you for that, so he got you for 6 MPH over.

Where I live, if the cops stopped every car going 6 mph over the limit, about 90% of the cars on the road would be stopped. We have several LEOs(retired) in our local Corvette Club and all of them have said that in their experience they do not stop anyone driving under 10 mph over the posted limit as long as they are not driving erratically and the weather is good. That is what I use as my limit when traveling whether I am in my Corvette or any of my cars. So far, so good.

[QUOTE=RottenII;1595379856]I've been an LEO for 25 years. I would be embarrassed to hand out a ticket like that with my signature on it.
Retired LEO here, and I was thinking the same thing.

Works both ways. I was stopped in Nevada doing around 145. Long straight away. I was passing a long string of cars. I didn't realize how many cars were in the line. When I had passed about ten cars at 80 mph and couldn't find a place to get back in and couldn't see the front of the line. I punched it and let off when I could see the front car and coasted back into the right lane. Second car in line was cop. He pulled me over. Could not have been nicer. Said he saw what I did and understood. We were in the middle of nowhere. The road was long straight and flat. He asked me about my car, told me it was beautiful. Then told me that because of the speed I was going he had to write me a ticket.
He wrote me a ticket for 80 in a 70, told how to plead so it wouldn't go on record. I drove to next town about 35 miles away. Did what he said.
$75.00
They are not all bad.

I got pulled for 65 in a 35. Asked if I could do traffic school. He said you cant be more than 20 mph over, took my ticket and reduced the speed to 54. Roughly $380 for the ticket and $100 for school. Feel blessed.

I believe everything except he pulled you over because you drove a C7. its a fallacy that cops pull over red, yellow, sports cars etc. He pulled you over because you were speeding.

Agree, someone here posted a list of most "ticketed" cars, and Corvettes were down near the bottom of the list. Cars that 20-somethings drive tend to be the most cited.

A friend of mine got a ticket in the early 90s for going 43 km/h in a 40 zone! He was definitely targetted because he was driving a loud 5.0 Mustang. He took it to court, the cop did show up but the judge tore a strip out of the cop for wasting everyone's time with this bogus charge!

'I still believe the only reason I was pulled over was because I had a Beautiful C7."
That is what I was replying to.

In my 17 years I have always given 11. I almost always drop it down to 9 to keep it off their record.

Only two drivers showed up in court to fight the case - the first car driver and me (3’rd car).
I was prepared to argue that I stopped just short of the car in from of me and was pushed into that car when the car behind me hit me.
The police officer did not show up in court.
The judge dropped the case against the driver of the first car (who had a lawyer).
Then when I was called the judge also dropped the case against me (I did not have a lawyer). Immediately the lawyer for the other driver stood up and argued against my charge being dropped, saying he planned to sue all drivers behind his client.
The judge told him to sit down since his client’s charge had been dropped for the same reason mine was being dropped.
I agree one should always go to court. The other four drivers pleaded guilty to the charge by not showing up.
I never heard any more from the lawyer. Don't know if he tried to sue the other drivers.

so why did the yellow stingray get pulled over and not the gray Hyundai who was directly in front and traveling at the same wickedly fast 6 MPH over the posted speed limit?
I get the "if you were going 6 MPH over the posted limit you are still speed" argument but apparently that only applied to me and my yellow C7 and not the driver in front of me...
