Any of you use radar detectors. Are they worth the money? What is the best out there? Never owned one but thought i might pick one up. This car stands out and i am sure cops will love to write it up.

I use a Valentine 1, it won't save you every time but it pays for itself basically the first time it saves you from getting a ticket. I have never been pulled over in the first 15k miles, even though I may have exceeded the recommended speed limit.

Escort, Valentine 1, are two of the best and they definitely are worth the money.

Depending on what model you get you are looking at $300-$600.00.

Make sure you run your Radar detector while running the Waze app on your phone at the same time. If you have a Valentine 1 or a Max 360 you are almost invincible with both protecting you.

V1 and Beltronics Pro 500 both work great.

V1 is great but not as good as Max 360. Used both and am sticking with Max 360. Being able to pick up hits from 3 miles away (thank you KS for being FLAT haha) and multi-direction + having communication with anyone with any GPS passport while on the road is just fantastic. V1 still gets the job done and is a fantastic device. Can't really go wrong with it.

Okay so I been reading on both the V1 and Max 360.
On the V1 it apears that in order to get the best performance you need to use your andriod and then also download some apps. No problem there but i was wondering if any of you could tell me if you still have use of your phone. There is a Bluetooth adapter so you are wireless to the V1 but i also use my phone for my music and i use it through bluetooth. I guess you could plug one in and bluetooth the other but can you run booth apps at the same time.
It appears that V1 has more range than the Max 360 but the Max 360 is plug and play and needs no apps. Valentine in all got much better ratings including quality.
My main concern is not having to tie up my phone to operate the radar at full potential.

Wrong
The only time you stand out on the highway is if you are the rabbit or, riding the left lane. This car has an extremely low signature to radar and Lazer. Especially w/of a front plate. Police could care less what car you are driving.

One word of warning about Escort.
I had many V1's and once the Max 360 came out, I replaced two of the V1. The Max 360 seems better to me than the V1.
However, Escort was purchased by a Venture Capital firm and the latest version of the firmware, 1.6 has been pending for almost a year to fix some bugs and not forthcoming. It seems the VC firm has cut Escort to the bone. Escort released the super expensive 360 CI, but the price of that thing is just plan ridiculous. Basic software support seems to be non-existent with Escort these days.

I am the Rabbit and i only pass in the left lane unless there is an idiot in left texting and doing under the speed limit then i go right. On open highways i usually role 80. I have had 1 ticket in 20 years.

Thats exactly what I read that had me a little nervous about dropping 650$ on the excort. They have been compromising quality and still have a high price tag.

Yes, I absolutely use a radar detector in my cars. During the last fifteen years I avoided 25+ tickets thanks to my radar detector.
When I say avoided I mean had I not immediately slowed down, in many cases slammed on the brakes I would have absolutely gotten nailed.
Radar Detector: Beltronics 870. Best ever!

Then you' ve pretty much answered your own question. I run fast but I only go to the left lane when need be. I just finished a 4k loop from TX to SD. Through WY, MT, UT, NV (did Spring Mtn.),AZ,NM and back into TX. I was running a good 10 over and had many passing me. Gotta love those SUV and pick ups. They have a high radar signature. I just stay a discrete distance back and let them run interference.

The Max 360 is excellent, and has paid for itself. The screen is a little dim in bright light, but otherwise it functions flawlessly.
HOWEVER, it needs a software update to help it filter blind spot monitors, which are freaking everywhere now. It has become a huge annoyance the last couple years, to the point I almost want to unplug it. C'mon Escort, figure this out.
