Little funnel that came with my '18

Anyone know what the small, black funnel shaped thing is that came with the battery charger and license plate stuff in the storage compartment in the hatch! Outside of actually being a funnel, I can't think of any use???
Got it! Search is your friend! A real, honest to goodness funnel for gas cans. Would be a $450 option on a Porsche...

The Funnel opens the filler inside valve to allow filling.
Just for the record, it's not as dumb as it may seem to some... I believe that when they went to "no cap" fuel filling, the design called for a closing valve that is a ways inside the filler tube.... what this funnel does is actually open that valve, thus allowing the fuel to enter. At the fuel pump, the handle filler neck opens that valve. But if you had to use a gas can or otherwise, the funnel serves the purpose to open the valve.

It's a very bad funnel though, I ended up picking up a longer stemmed, wider mouthed one at Walmart.

The funnel has another good use. It allows you to look down the fuel inlet tube to make sure your anti-siphon grid is still in place and has not fallen down into the gas tank. There was a recall on this.

For those of us with the dry sump oil system, it looks like it would also be helpful for adding oil to the oil tank when away from home.
I keep my funnel in a clean ziplock in the cubby, so it will be clean if I need it and won't mess up the inside of the car afterwards.

That is exactly what I was thinking. It really is a handy device. As to the battery charger, correct. I got the battery protection option for $100. Will use it on our '87 Grand National that doesn't get out often enough in the winter. Seems like a quality unit.

Will use it when the Schmacher trickle charger I always have on my street rod fails. It and the Optima Yellow Top are ~6 years old. Due for a new battery on just a matter of principle! With electric doors and the battery inside the sedan no fun if it fails! Actually installed a connection outside the car that has terminals to connect 12 volts to get the doors open!
