Paint chip between bumper and quarter panel
Has anyone else see this on a brand new C7 and/or Z06? I just noticed it around 300 miles into brand new ownership. The chip is down in between the front bumper panel and the front driver side quarter panel close to the headlight. Looking at it from the front there's no way this was causing by a rock or something else.
Taking it into the dealer on Monday for the 500 mile oil change and I mentioned this over the phone I want them to look at. Unfortunetely this seems like one of those things a dealership would fight tooth and nail in order to not take responsibility. It's not the end of the world and some light touch up paint would take care of it I think. I just dont want it to get worse over time. You dont buy a 90k vehicle to have factory made chips in it.....

There are already multiple posts on here about that defect on many C7's. Take it to your dealer, they likely already know about this, but in any case it will be covered under warranty. Most instances GM is just sending out another pre-painted bumper.

Is the defect always in this spot? or just similar in that it happens where two panels meet up?

Yep. Lots of threads on this issue. You're not alone. We've purchased 2 C7s and not had the issue, but plenty have. Tight fit and could benefit from better prep and design in that area. I've had the front bumper off on our first C7 to replace the grill and it's a really tight fit with the bracket in that area.
Most seem to be fixing with touch up paint. Some are letting their dealers repaint the front bumper or order a new one. I don't think most dealers are fighting it.
If it were me, I'd touch it up myself. Just put masking/painters tape on the fender side of the area so the touch up paint doesn't bridge the gap between the bumper and fender when it dries. Use the touch up sparingly - a few light coats. If you decide to do this, I'd let the dealer know and see it first, and tell them if you don't like the outcome you'll need it covered under warranty.
Others would likely prefer to have the dealer take care of it from the start. I used to paint show cars so I'd rather do small stuff like that myself.
Sorry it happened on your beautiful car!

Very common issue.
I have the same issue where the fender and front bumper meet at the wheel well on driver's side.
Gotto love GM quality.

Just took my 2017 GS home last night. Woke up this morning to give it the once over, it was snowing yesterday when I bought it, but this is the second C7 I have bought from my dealer, so I didn't really double check the car. I have the same exact defect on my yellow tint coat. Front bumper and quarter panel, same exact spot as yours, and on the rear bumper and quarter panel. Also noticed on the hatch lid there is an area that didn't get enough coverage!
I will expect nothing less than two new painted bumpers installed and a rear hatch.
What was the result of your escapade?

GM fixes this condition under warranty as had been reported here quite a few times.

1. Some half *** touch up paint?
2. A half *** repaint?
3. New bumper with factory paint and new emblems?
Seems to be number 3. I won't settle for less than that.
Good day to ya!

Gawd, ^^^^ those paint jobs look awful.
Did those paint chips develop, or were they there all along from the GM factory?

I can't understand how/why they didn't address this prior to delivering the the car to you. Usually these chip issues are hard to detect without close inspection, however they stick out like neon in multiple areas on this yellow car.

When I took delivery car had no chips or defects at all. I drove it 80 miles home from dealer and while showing to my son we noticed a chip between quarter panel and rear bumper valance. Call salesman and told him that no way a rock/ stone could have done this and asked if they came across this. He said the car flexes when first driven on roads and sometimes it happens. He talked to service, made an appt. I took it down and they did a complete professional repaint of the bumper valance complete with new emblems. No short cuts at all. Very pleased

My 2017 was repaired by the dealer in their body shop prior to my taking delivery in Nov. 2017.
Mine was about the sixth they had fixed, and we saw 2 more on the lot that had the same issue.
They gave me a written Lifetime Warranty on the repair.

Very glad to read that Chev. is taking care of these paint issues satisfactorily.

Most instances you would never get a prepainted bumper from GM!
It is the paint not sticking and is not a chip. There has been talk the mold release was not cleaned well enough on the edge so the paint flakes off.
I inspected my seams on both my 2 Z06's and they don't not have this issue. Which would suck in book!
