The GS has lower gear ratio and fatter tires making the mfg recorded times to 60 faster than the base. When comparing to older cars it uses the A8 for it's 0-60 times which also helps. It looses the battle as speed increases because gear and tires no longer help. Wasn't this thread a question about suspension. LOL.

oh didn't know it made a sub 2.95 s 0-60 with almost 200 less hp and 200 ftlbs.

oh wait it didn't.

yet another z06 wannabe...

If I remember correctly, the quickest Corvette in that article was the current Z06. Not knocking the other versions of the C7 as they are all great cars and were referenced in the article as well.

In have heard the 2017's were ship using packing bolts that keep the car higher for delivery. Is this true?
Also, will the dealer lower them?
Thanks

Looking at 2017 corvette brochure:0-60 stingray with z51 = 3.7 sec. GS = 3.6 sec.,
Z06 =2.95 sec.
1/4 mile = 11.9, 11.8, 10.95
These are all A8 tranny numbers

The Grand Sport is an awesome Corvette. My two friends bought Z06 and they both complain it's too much power and no where to use it! They do not track there Corvettes.

The Grand Sport has the best of everything and enough ponies to run like a race car.

The Grand Sport is an awesome car, but to claim itsjust a Z-6 without the motor/supercharger is about disingenuous as you can be. To me that's like saying your daughter is just your son without the genitalia. That's kinda what makes it what it is....

No, because that would be inaccurate, but calling a GS a Z without the supercharger doesn't seem disingenuous to me, it seems wholly true.

What is inaccurate about it? What does the GS have that the Z does not (besides 100 less pounds)?

I'm not picking on the GS at all, just this argument. Because the GS to me seems like a lot more than a Z51 with a body kit... it seems like a Z without the LT4.

I'll gladly take one of those off their hands!

Let me be frank here. That "too much power" refrain, is pure bullshit. Grow a pair and learn how to drive it.

Not only is that analogy completely inaccurate, it's absolutely gross.

My previous '17 GS 1LT 7M weighed in at 3373 LBS. and my new '18 Z06 1LZ 7M weighs in at 3442 LBS. So the difference in weight is only 69 pounds. These weights are most likely shipping weights which were both on the MSO's and my NYS registration.
I can honestly tell you that I see no difference in the way the two cars handle. The difference in power and torque is a whole another story!

We've overlooked an important performance feature on the Z06 that's missing on the GS: Clear tail light lenses. The GS has old-fashioned, low-performance red.

...it seems like a Z without the LT4.
Pretty damn close.

If you can afford the extra $5K The Grand Sport is the way to go, no doubt at all.

The power is definitely at a different level. However doesn't the Z06 have forged internals? Not sure the GS has that either. Therefore you can't just slap a big blower on it and go either. Nothing against a GS but I chose the Z06 because I wanted the power along with the looks. Kind of like having muscles and not being able to lift much weight :-). All show and NO go.
