Grand Sport and the ZO6

Does the average or can the average Corvette driver really feel the difference between 3.6 and 2.95 to 60 miles per hour? If so, then ZO6 is your answer. If that is not of great importance, the GS is your answer. Where in Los Angeles can you open it up to feel that power unless it is 4 am or on the the Las Vegas.

I feel the difference in power big time. Should have never have driven my friends Z06. Now I'm hooked and will be buying one this fall or winter. Now I only have a Stingray, but have test driven a Grand Sport, and it is a terrific car, but I couldn't tell any difference in power between mine and the GS.

I'm usually a z06 guy but I dont normally track my vehicles. I cant afford to crash them, I just dont have the cash some guys do here.
I'm going to try the "slow" car fast rule on my next one and go grand sport over z, just because I like the body style and the bigger wheels.

yup but it will never be one.
planning on changing internals and the trans?
-good luck
gs also lacks the carbon fiber torque tube.
one could mod a mustang and roast a modded grandsport but the gs is still a better factory build than a mustang...

It's not like someone is scoffing at the price of a 69 Yanko and proposing taking 1982 Corvette, changing some stuff and dropping in a crate engine to make it mostly match a Yanko and saying you can have a Yanko for way less. Yeah, there you can say "yup but it will never be one."
I love the C7, but let's all calm down

I think he's wrong that a bolt on GS can beat a Z06, unless it's more than 1 lap (I kid). At the same time, let's not kid ourselves that "being a z06" is some sort of holy standard to obtain. It has virtually zero chance of ever being a collector item. Even the "special edition" C7s have virtually no chance of ever being worth more than their sticker after inflation, ever.

See above remarks. The GS Transaxle will do just fine!

They all have their plus and minuses, but are all great Corvettes! All depends on your wants and how much you want to spend!

Finalist 2020 C7 of the Year -- Unmodified
I bought a Z06 knowing it will be my last that I have for many years. I purchased knowing that their will be a NEW ZR1 and a C8 that will be a improvement over my Z06. It is the nature of the beast!

IIRC the highest priced Corvettes are the original Grand Sports, L88's and the ZL1.

Which are all very different, mostly pre-emissions cars.
For the past at least 15, if not 20 years, those cars have appreciated from sticker (factoring in inflation). An original 69 vette was worth a lot when I first started driving back nearly 20 years ago (wow).
If it was just an age thing, the 1989 Corvette should be worth a lot by now. Certainly the C4 should start to appreciate, but it hasn't. Basically, what is considered a "classic" or a "collectible" hasn't changed much in the past 15-20 years. A few cars got added to the list, like the Supra, but that's about it.
