Harvey Takes My C7, And I Need Help
First off, my family is safe and sound. Unfortunately, the same can't be said for my Corvette which died a slow agonizing death under a couple feet of water. Here's the problem... My ebrake is on, and I can't disengage it to get it out of the garage. Ideas???

Have you ever been the victim of an unexpected disaster? I have. This was a monumental disaster that people had little or no time to prepare for. Tens of thousands of people who were not even in floods zones became victims in this one.
Matt, I'm very sad for you, and feel your pain. I have also been the victim of a major hurricane, which ended up costing me a fortune, and I know what it feels like.

Wow. That is a painful sight. Good you hear you and your family are ok. The machinery can be replaced - as much as that sucks to deal with.
My heart goes out to you for the vette and the (GTS?). And your home.
I'm not saying this to mean, but frankly, your car is totaled. So even if you have to drag it out of the garage, while yet another painful sight, isn't going to hurt the car anymore than it already is.
Sorry you have to go through this. I can't imagine.

Why didn't you drive it to the top floor of a long term parkade and leave it there until the storm passes, you have absolutely nothing to lose buy doing so?

My condolences - the loss is heartbreaking, but in the end it's only stuff. Sorry - no clue how to disengage the e-brake without power.
Why didn't he drive to the top of a parkade? Why didn't all those people stranded in their houses and on their roofs just go to higher ground? Because maybe 4 feet of rain was unexpected.
Hope for better days ahead for you...if I lived closer I'd offer temporary room and board.

I've never checked out the ebrake setup, but I figured it's a similar mechanism as a hand brake with a motor attached. You might have to get handy and take the rear brakes apart. Then put the wheels back on and roller her outta there. The plus side is I suppose you get to shop for a new one. Is that a Viper in there with it? Even with insurance, that sucks. If I was you, I think I'd be crying a little when no one was looking.

Sorry that you are caught up in that mess. You may be able to use "jacking dollies" to roll the car out of the garage...they are available at Northern Tool and other car parts stores.
Best of luck!

I too was going to suggest wheel dollies. I'm so sorry this had to happen to you and your family. I'm glad your family is ok as for vette such a sad picture. Do you or your family need anything that we might be able to help with ? Don't hesitate to ask.

Very sorry to hear. I'm sure that really hurts. Maybe you can get into a car with some different options you may have wanted before.

Wait til the water goes down, and then try it. I'd bet that the car will power up and let you release the brake.
It's usually not the short term exposure to water that kills cars. it's the long term corrosion of the connectors.
