I remember several posts regarding people picking up "flood cars" and bringing them back to life. Here's one sort of recent one and the outcome:

Yes, I remember that thread, which described one experience w/ a flood car over about a month, and I just read back through it again. The last post was last January, and he was still having some issues. He hasn't been heard from since.

As I said in earlier in this thread, getting a flood car running is not all that hard. The hard part will be dealing with continuous electronic gremlins, months and perhaps even years after getting it running again.

I have heard stories of how these flood soaked cars are left to dry out and purchased by some unsavory types that then export these cars to Canada and elsewhere. After a lot of shady paperwork they end up at curbsiders that make a quick dollar selling a lightly used car from the US. Buyer beware.

the car battery is dead. i received a text that the alarm went off and i was thinking that sitting in water might have caused it to motion alarm. i do know that battery is dead.

what do you guys think? standing in 16 inches of water and 3 inches in the floorboards enough to total it out? it's a special order 2017 Z06 with 1481 miles on it. thoughts? TIA

the water is slowly going down but it will take a week before it can get towed.

Dang, no jack stands? Horrible to hear this happened.

so many flooded cars in houston it's going to take time for adjusters to get to them all. now hearing royal purple raceway shutdown for the year and hauling all the flooded vehicles to there. here's a few photos when i was able to get to it.

Sorry this happened to your car. If it makes you feel any better, some insurance companies are tending to give higher than expected values for totaled cars.

I know of one case where someone had a low mileage F150 that was likely worth 22-24 on the open market and the insurance company gave $29,500.

So I would wait and see what the insurance company comes back with before worrying about getting beat up on value.

Man, those pictures makes my heart hurt. I know you have to be sick now, but at least there's a new one in your future...

So sorry to hear this happened to you. My 2014 was flooded last year with water over the seat bottoms as it sat in a shop. While I thought about trying to bring it back to life, the better decision was to just start over. I'm glad I did. Best wishes!
