Default Pics and Video of body panel painted in the new paint shop

Kai Spande brought a panel to his NCM presentation today that was painted in the new paint shop. It is a marked and significant improvement over the old paint shop finish capability. Keep in mind that Kai remarked that they are still fine tuning the process. The future looks bright! (This panel is painted Sebring Orange Tintcoat.)

(I will insert the video link when it finishes uploading.)

I don't think I will have the patience to wait for the newly painted cars but those pics make me hopeful!

Thanks Jaggy Man. You are a constant provider of quality information on this forum.

Pretty interesting that they are already producing parts (even test parts) from the the new paint shop.

Ah, finally, paint jobs worthy of the Corvette.

That looks like a real improvement. Great to see.

I'm liking the new color, too.

Orange, but no orange peel. They look great. Looks like the new paint shop is going to do wonders for Corvette paint quality.

I wonder how much extra prep and detail work they performed on that one before displaying it.

The first "Sebring" thread wondered if the color was metallic...you can see the flakes in that second image.

Did Kai Spande have a big smile on his face? How did you judge his excitement level on how he thought the panel looked?

In your estimation what is the reduction percentage of orange peel?
30% reduction, 50%, 75%, 90%, etc. ???

Thanks for sharing!

Very nice. I would love to see them come out with a true red metallic just like that. Not like the current and previous dark reds, but a true, bright metallic red.

Nothing more than the normal new shop process.

Kai was very excited about showing the new paint! And I'd say 80% reduction in texture/orange peel.

I like it, Jeremy! Can't wait to see other colors done with the new paint process and shop.

Exactly. Chip Foose can spray with the same technique in my garage as he can in the best paint booth. My garage may add a few boogers just like my 2 C7's had from Bowling Green, but I have a hard time believing the orange peel itself can't be removed with the correct spray tips and robot programming. I find it difficult to believe new robots have capabilities to remove orange peel that the old ones couldn't.

If the first colors to come out of this new paint shop were supposed to be white and yellow, why are we looking at an orange panel as fresh out of the new paint shop? This is all marketing bullcrap IMO.
