I haven't rotated yet but will probably use the same schedule you've decided on (5k miles). When I read your earlier post my first reaction was "OMG, I stated my position wrong again!" I didn't but could've been a bit more clear, I'm sure.

See you're talking about where you measure! Mine is simple. Have a favorite, not widely used 270 degree exit ramp. Grass field on the left. The driver's front tire gets the highest use so the outer tread is my indicator as when to rotate if it should be sooner than ~5000 miles.
Actually, the outside wide groove (pre-rotation) is toward the middle of the tire. I use it to measure tread depth with a cheap (~$3) mechanical gauge that's not very precise. Since AFAIK there are no precise gauges of this type it'll have to do.

Has anyone found that the tire wears more slowly as it wears down. Grasping at straws here, checked my wear today on 2017 GS, and I’m down to 6/32” at 5500 miles, more or less even wear. I’ll be lucky to make 10,000miles on a set of tires. It’s a daily driver, don’t track, with most miles on a concrete highway, not sure if that makes a diff. Was aligned at 3000miles. I don’t burn rubber, but I’m don’t mind taking corners with some vigor occasionally.

I have a '17 GS as well. The front tires are warranted to go 30K, the rears 15K. Go to a Discount Tire store-they are authorized to do warranty adjustments for Michelin. You'll get a break on a new set.

Assume you have the MPSS which start at either 7.4 or 7.8 depending on front/back so it looks like you’re experiencing typical street wear and should expect another 15000 miles or so.

I have a C6 Z06 with staggered tire sizes 18"/19"(no front/rear rotation). I have Bridgestone RE050A run flats(developed expressly for the Z06 by Bridgestone). I have ~40,000 miles on them with ~3/32" tread remaining(10/32" when new).

The OD of my tires is the same as the OD of the C7 Z06/GS tires. If you are interested in great tire life, you might consider picking up a set of C6 Z06 Spider wheels shod with Bridgestone RE050A tires.

They are only 10mm(less than 7/16") narrower than the tires on the C7 Z06/GS.

Photo of tires with ~25,000 miles on them.

In my opinion, the 1/2 inch taller sidewalls of the C6 Z06 Spiders are better for the street. I'm not 100% sure, but I believe the spiders will clear the front calipers of the C7 Z06/GS(with the iron rotors, not the CC brakes)

thankyou, that changes the calculation, for some reason I thought I started with 10/32”, checked the Michelin website and your right with the 7.4 and 7.8. Its amazing how often I can get myself all twisted up about non issues when comes to my GS.

See Reply #11. For years I've kept watch of tread depth on many motorcycle and auto tires and all of them have shown less depth than the manufacturer spec for new tires. My GS was 7.2/32" for front and rear on the outer large tread row. That's the outer row of three on a MPSS tire, while the inner large row was only 6.7/32" measured by my gauge. In an OCD moment one day I also checked some new tires at a nearby dealer and got the same measurement. I've also checked the gauge for accuracy and must conclude that manufacturers fudge on the specs.
