Ambient Temperature Display
My C7's temp guage seems to be really slow to update. It was 103 in Pasadena the other day and the display showed 80 (from the parking garage) until I was in los angeles, about 14 miles away before the display changed to 102 degrees. It was actually 90 at the time as I checked weather .com from my phone.
Is that normal ?

Yeah. Mine does that sometimes. I can go several hours without an update. Only does this about once a month or so at most, or......after I wash it sometimes. I must get water on the sensor.

I don't understand why GM programs it to operate that way.
I can get into my Mercedes in the garage and as soon as I turn the key it displays the temp in my garage. As soon as I back out of my garage, it shows the new outside temperature almost immediately.
The heat/AC/vent system performs way better in my Mercedes than in my Corvette.

It does that so the temp display is not affected by heat soak when parked. Otherwise, the temp might indicate 100 after being parked for a few minutes on a 70 deg day.
Temp is displayed on the top line of the info screen.

The C5 and C6 had the info in the Owner Manual- the outside temp would not update until the car had been driven for x minutes at y (slow) speed; or fewer minutes at a higher speed. And there was a way shown in the Service Manual about how to force an instant update.
So far, our C7 seems to be doing the same but I haven't yet found the numbers about how fast/how long.
EDIT:
On our C5 and C6, driving around town doing errands but never going far/fast enough to get the update, you could literally drive all day without the temp ever updating.

Per manual
Sensors
The interior cabin air temperature
and solar sensor on top of the
instrument panel near the
windshield monitors the solar heat
and measures the initial interior
cabin temperature.
The climate control system uses the
sensor information to adjust the
temperature, fan speed,
recirculation, and air delivery mode
for best comfort.
The humidity and windshield
temperature sensor is on the
windshield glass inside surface near
the rear view mirror. The automatic
climate control system uses this
sensor to receive information.
If any of these sensors are blocked
or covered, the automatic climate
control system may not work
properly.
There is also a sensor located
behind the front bumper. This
sensor reads the outside air
temperature and helps to maintain
the temperature inside the vehicle.
Any cover on the front of the vehicle
could give a false reading in the
temperature.
I don't see anything on time or mileage needs to get the temp to reset. Got to be somewhere but it is eluding me.

My A/C wasn't working satisfactorily till I realized my radar detector suction cupped to the center of windshield & low was blocking the top of the dash sensor (at times depending on direction driving). It was putting the sensor in shade causing it to interpret the temp was cooler than it was. Raised it about 3-4" & problem solved!

I hope so but am not counting on it. Both the car itself and the Owner Manual don't seem very interested in telling us some of the things that the "unsophisticated" C6 would tell.

My Mercedes has the outside temp sensor and it doesn't have the l-o-n-g delay in the temp update and the heat/Ac/system works perfectly.

I am having the same problem with my C7. On my C6 you could push 3 buttons simultaneously that would update the current outside temperature immediately. Is there a similar function on the C7?
