That's the only club I would join that wants me for a member.

My experience with "local" car clubs is that they deal with anything other than cars, no matter what the club is. Sports (non-auto), politics, religion, food, drink... but minimal car stuff.

Schuyler,
First of all, it's almost a given that formal clubs with dues and a hierarchy, are going to be fraught with one or more cliques.
Cliques are a bastard to have to deal with. They physically sicken me.
The only benefit I want from a Nationally sanctioned Corvette Clique Club, are the discounts and recommendations for local suppliers and contractors they might have.
The informal, non-dues, impromptu GTG ones are the ones I'd be interested in.
Where can I find those in Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas area?

I'm looking for a corvette club for anti-social procrastinators. The type of organization that allows you to show up when you want and not speak to anybody. Haven't really tried looking though.

Corvette Clubs are a good thing....and some are more formal in their approach than others. We (East Tennessee Corvette Club) are more on the informal side from the responsibilities of the membership (other than paying dues) but from an organizational and structure side, pretty formal (in terms of how the club is run, officers chosen, donations made from profits of club events, etc). We are an NCCC club...in fact, the largest of all NCCC clubs nationwide with 450 members. Lots of activities for all sorts of interests....its an opportunity to meet good friends. Also, at least for NCCC clubs, they provide liability insurance for sponsored events (in the event something goes bad). Find a club you like and get involved to the extent you feel comfortable.

This past summer ..I went to CAR SHOW on a SAT. afternoon...near Lake Ontario ..in Niagara County...there were a number of Vettes in one area...so I naturally parked my DSOM Z51 near other C7's..an older gentleman who was parked near me intro'd himself , talked about the Vettes for awhile...then asked me if I was a member of his Corvette club or any other in WNY..I politely told him no. He asked me if I would like to join and I explained I wasnt a "club type" person..and did not care for the responsibilities of meetings etc...he must of been offended..then said that his Vette club wouldnt want me either...I said great...that makes us even!!

This CF, C7 forum/s are fantastic in many ways.
I think that I would like to find a hands-on Corvette shop events club, to get acquainted with the care and maintenance of just some of what a DIY might could accomplish with some coaching from an ASE Certified Corvette mechanic, or members with that knowledge sharing with others at Saturday workshop events throughout the year.

For track events,I'm a member & like the BMW Car Club.
They have great track events and you don't have to drive a BMW to join or take part.
They have many events at the Michelin Proving Grounds in SC.

Our club is very informal, no dues, no rules. Just a group of Corvette owners who enjoy our cars and getting together to have fun. We also do what we can to support local charities each year. I wouldn't have it any other way.

My wife and I joined two clubs, never owning a vette before we thought it would nice to be with others with a similar interest. Club 1 has about 200 members and we've found the events they participate in to be fun, social and are starting to become regulars. It did take a while to get acquainted, most everyone is inviting and doesn't matter what your 'status' is. Club 2, 1200 members, we've found to be separated based on what you like to do, shows, racing, travel, etc. Only those that share the same event give you the time of day. We're sticking with club 1 and recommend finding a local club as it has added tremendously to our enjoyment in the vette community. Just try different clubs, there's one for everybody.

No thanks. I do not need to pay dues and be required to participate to have fun with my Vette. Way to much to do here in San Diego year around. I attend car shows because I want to. Not because I have to.

I am the newly elected President of Colonial Corvette Club in Williamsburg VA. I joined in 2012 after buying my 1996 Coupe. We do have dues $25 a year single $30 couple. We try to have fun and do different things,. We have taken overnight trips to Charlotte to Hendricks museum and drove on Charlotte Speedway. Just had a tour of the USS Dwight D Eisenhower. Did an overnight to Bowling Green we toured the plant , this was before the closing and most of the group went to the museum track and ran our cars. We meet once a month at various eaterys around the area. WE limit membership to 50 couples or singles. We are a more social club even though we have a board. Its fun we try to go on cruise once a month to different place. Its fun and we have a diversity of age groups but there are a large group of over 60. It all depends on the club and what you want, most of our money collected goes to charity

Hey mschuyler - I know this thread is a bit old, but I missed it the first time around.
My cousin lives in Seattle and belongs to both clubs. He and his wife have been a long time member of the older club, and they now have a C7. They pretty much say the same thing you did - one of the clubs have some cliques (but they know how to work around them in that club because they've been at it for a while - and most of the members are really great people), and the other one was started because some of the members of the older club wanted a bit more relaxed club atmosphere.
My wife and I take long road trips to the PNW each fall, and meet up with our cousins somewhere along the way. In the fall of '16 we met up with one of the PNW clubs in Wintrop - just happened that they were taking an overnight fall ride there and we were staying near the town at the same time. They were a bunch of really nice people and we had a lot of fun with them. If you're interested, I can get you more info from my cousin - sometimes helps since they are very familiar with both clubs. PM me if you like. And maybe we meet up for a meal sometime on one of our road trips?
Pic below is of some of the cars, and members, we met. About 35 cars went on that trip, C4 thru C7.......

Interesting responses. After belong to several CC's they all have several things in common. One, people that love Corvettes and like to do things with their Corvettes. Two, they devote a lot of time and money to charities and helping other members. Three, like any other organization there are cliques and in reality usually 10% of the members do 90% of the work.

I had something weird happen to me the other day.
I was driving my car to the store and had a guy follow me and in the parking lot asked if I was a member of a Corvette Club. I told him no and he gave me a card of their club. Nice guy. I checked out the website and Facebook page, and it was a lot of cruises and meets, but no track driving or any sort of performance based events (not even a dyno day). I was surprised to learn this cost money to join too. The money doesn't bother me, but the lack of track days, AutoX, etc. makes me wish we had a BMWCCA or PCCA type club.

As I said earlier, I am the President of the Corvette Club of Kansas City, Missouri for my 2nd year now.
Yes, there are cliques in the Club. But I find that there are cliques in many different clubs, not just Corvette Clubs.
Yes, many of the people are older, but they're all nice people who share a common interest....Corvette. The guys like to see what mods I've done, so my car seems to be a topic of conversation from time to time.
I was Vice President before I got to my 2nd term as President for 2018. While I was Vice President, I introduced a deal where I had guest speakers come for each monthly meeting. I have everyone from local NCRS President to Chris at Callaway Cars to Mike Yager, the Owner/President and "Chief Cheerleader" for Mid America Motorworks come to speak at our monthly meetings!
Those were very interesting and drew a lot of attendance at our monthly meeting. So I've tried to make the boring monthly meetings more fun and exciting to attend.

I'm looking for a hands on workshop DIY/hobbyist maintenance Corvette Club in Dallas Fort Worth, Texas area.
I'd like to know about working on maintaining my car from the ground up, first and foremost. If anybody knows of one, please advise. I reside in far East Dallas area.
Thanks!
