Default Wide body cars

Is the amount of flare on the fenders the same on a Z-51 and a Z06? The pics of Z06 rear fenders always seem to look wider(more pronounced) to my eye....
Thanks!

The GS, and the Z06 are a bit wider Bob. By how much I'm not sure. You can get the specs at www.chevrolet.com though.

GM lists the actual width difference between Stingray and GS/Z06 as 3.5" (73.9" vs. 77.4")

IIRC, the GS/Z06 rear fender wheel well lips are about 1.6" wider per side than the Stingray/Stingray Z51 rear fenders, for a total increase of ~3.2" total rear fender width, outside edge to edge.

I still haven't been able to figure out or find the *front* fender wheel lip width difference (without spats) between Stingray and GS/Z06. Clearly, it is not as much difference as the rear, but how much exactly? I say this having seen a Z06 front wheel/tire mounted on a Stingray, and noting that the Z06 spat alone would mostly cover the tire, leading me to believe that the difference in actual *fender* width in front is small.

(FYI - Z51 and non-Z51 fenders are exactly the same, front and rear)

Thanks Rebel Yell. At your linked site it does show GS and Z06 body being wider by almost 4in. than the base.
Unfortunayely, when I compare the base and the base with Z-51 option the site shows their widths to be the same....(??) Wonder whats up with that?

Interestingly, track width is a mere 1in. between the( GS, Z06) and Base.

Also, dimensional body width numbers doesn't necessarily address my exact question....a car could be 10ft wide and have zero fender flare.

"To cover the wider tire tread, the fenders of the Z06 were extended by 2.2 inches (56 mm) at the front, and 3.15 inches (80 mm) at the rear. These extensions give the Corvette Z06 a wider, lower appearance further emphasized by a unique rear fascia. It incorporates the same taillamp assemblies as the Stingray, but on the Z06 the taillamps are pushed approximately three inches farther apart, toward to edges of the body."
from the Z06 front fender thread 3 years ago.

the tail lamp move is really what gives the Z06 and GS the HUGE rear end look.

Thanks Kent....this is what I needed to know. I was under impression that the Z-51 was a "wide body" car.

Bummer cause I need that wider look$$.

I wonder if the 2.2" of front width increase includes the 1" 'spat' on each side? I would guess it does, leaving the actual front fender width almost identical, if spats are not included?

Front fenders for all of the cars are the same other than decorative differences. The wide body cars get the spats to cover the wider wheel. The wide body rear fenders are what make the cars so wide. Just look at the rear fender and you can see the bulge over the tires compared to the Stingray/Z51. They are so wide that after 23 years using the same trailer to tow Corvettes from the C4 to a C6Z to the track I had to buy a wider trailer to permit my C7 to fit without the sides of the rear tires hanging off the sides of the trailer.

The front fenders on the GS and Z06 are new moldings . They are not the same fenders used on the Base Stingray(W or W/O Z51). They are wider towards the rear of the wheel opening, but are the same width at the front of the wheel opening(so they will match up with the same front fascia that is used on ALL models).

The rear track of the C6 Z06 is 62.5" and the width of the C6 Z06's rear tires are 325mm(12.8"). That makes the measurement over the rear tires 75.3". if your C6 Z06 had the Z07 option then it had 335 mm rear ties and the width would have been 75.7"

The rear track of the C7 Z06 is 62.5" and the width of the C7 z06's rear tires are 335mm(13.2"). That makes the measurement over the rear tires 75.7".

I hope you didn't buy a new trailer just because each rear tire on your C7 Z06 hangs out a little over 3/16" more than your old C6 Z06 did. It would have been a lot cheaper to have welded a steel 3/16" X 3/16" square stock(around 4-5 feet long) to the sides of the ramps on your old trailer at the rear to widen them.

BTW, the C7 Z06's body at it's widest point(the fender flares at the top of the rear fender) is just 3/4'" wider each side than at that same point of the C6 Z06/GS/ZR1. But that's some 29"-30" above the ramp.
