I believe down on left and up on the right is pretty much the auto industry standard. I guess GM just decided to go along.

Thank you..i was afraid of that....c6 was more "user friendly"....never had to make sure one was using the right paddleshifter...oh well!!

That is what we were taught at Spring Mountain. Left- and Right+ was standard on all/most track cars, regardless of manufacturer.

Sounds simple enough and makes sense to me.

I much preferred our C6 setup, especially if using the paddles in an autocross or residential streets where you may need to switch hands on the wheel for tight turns.
You could always get the desired result with either paddle.

^ Being an industry standard or because it's that way on most cars doesn't make it better
The C6 setup is much more user friendly in any situation, especially on the street

I think you're just used to it.
I think if it was backwards (the way the C6 apparently is) would be less user friendly.
Actually for me the best Paddle Shifters are on my F430, they do not rotate with the wheel and + is on the Right there as well.

My last 2 cars, Jag XKR and MB AMG, had paddles left/-, right/+.

Luckily the transition to the C7 was seamless since GM changed things.

Yes sometimes we get used to things and don't like change.
And agree with something like F430 paddles, but they're also much larger and easier to grab if the wheel is turned.
With the C6 you can push to upshift, or pull to downshift with the Left or Right paddle even if the wheel is turned 180.
C7 is strictly left - right+, but if the wheel is turned 180, now it's opposite, left+ right -

with a little mental anticipation, I learned to paddle shift with the wheel 180º, ie shifting down with my right hand. It just takes some "mindfulness"...going slow helps too!
