2014 Corvette, dreaded black infotainment screen, car out of warranty.
This just popped up this morning. Infotainment screen black, it never flickered or anything. Volume, radio all work. I can touch around on the screen and it picks things, it's just... black.
I believe that would rule out any software or HMI issues, seems it would be something with the screen unit it self.
Does anyone have the current part number for replacement? I don't have a problem swapping it my self, just struggling to find the correct part.
Of course the car is out of warranty, not sure I can get GM to goodwill repair this 11 months after warranty because it's a known issue.

Never hurts to talk to your service advisor at the dealership and give GM customer service a call. I was able to get a known issue with TSB covered outside of warranty by Honda once on a S2000 back in the day.

I think I'm on my own unless I speak to my executive case representative that I'm still working with on the above

Hopefully, it's only software-related, but this is a good example of why I won't keep a modern vehicle w/ complex electronics past the B2B warranty period without an extended warranty. The GM extended warranty plan (formerly known as GMEPP) would cover this.
I don't expect powertrain issues to emerge nearly as much as this kinda stuff.

The possible costs to repair/replace a failed component of the car's complex electronics worry me more than the engine or manual transmission.
And a repair like the one in the OP could easily cover most of what I paid for the service contract.
This is part of the reason why I don't think today's Corvette will ever be as collectable as those Corvettes from the 1960's and 1970's. 50 years from now, the C7's electronic modules simply will not be available, and you can't just cobble up or cross-source parts for it in your garage like you can with a car built in the 1960's. You'll need to find a used-but-still-working 50 year old electronic module from a scrapyard, and have the computer hardware, software and knowledge to re-program it to work with your VIN. Just having a computer in 2067 that can run a 2017 software program might prove difficult in and of itself!

happened to me 6 months ago out of original warranty but covered by extended warranty. I believe its a $460 part, what happens is the interface cable breaks at the display end.
possibly you can fix it yourself, but you have to take the thing completely apart. The new part number which I don't have includes a modification that prevents that end of the cable from breaking
definitely not a software issue

I would attempt a quick look yourself before hitting the dealer. Mine was flickering, and it did go black once, so I took the advice of some forum members here, I easily popped off the driver side lower panel of the center console, found the two wires connecting the infotainment screen, I followed them, and re-seated the connections, and then I snipped off the tie wrap that seems to be the culprit of the wire staining and flicker issue. Took all of 10 minutes, and seemed to have solve my issue, more info on my thread here.

Disconnect you battery for about 1 minute and then hook it back up. That screen is like other computers and sometimes needs a hard reboot. If that doesn't fix it then you may have a bigger problem.

Disconnected battery, no change.
Wiggled cables, pushed on connectors, no change.
LCD backlight works as it dims and gets brighter when headlights are on, just nothing on screen.

Our dealer got us a new infotainment module after contacting their GM rep. There was some suggestion that a bulletin had gone out? Out of warranty so they didn't have to do anything for us. GM agreed to replace the unit with a $100 deductilble co pay. We thought that to be a great deal. 6 months and all is fine to date.
Our screen would flicker one morning, then be fine for a several months. Got progressively worse until not working was the new normal. And we were past 36/36. Should have insisted on a replacement when the car was still under warranty. Lesson learned.

I never once had it flicker. Just odd, it worked yesterday, doesn’t work today. Was no in between.
Im going to call my GM executive care rep and see what they can tell me. I’m at a loss. I’d hate to order a screen and it ends up being the HMI
