I think it's silly how many cars come with what essentially could be the same cheap-looking (to me) gray paint. These range from Kias to Ferraris to... What I prefer (don't care what anyone else thinks, never have) is a wheel that the rim (I mean the "rim" not the "wheel") can be polished and the entire center painted to match the car. I've done so a number of times and I always like the results. Unfortunately, or not, the new black '18 has all black wheels but no real rim, as such, to polish.

Well, I'm not likely to be popular around here after this post, but so be it. After all, I don't want everybody's car to look like mine, I don't like what you got. (just joking)
I'm a chrome wheel fan boy. Chrome wheels were an upgrade when I was learning about cars. You painted your cheap wheels black when you couldn't afford chrome. So I sure as hell ain't going back to black.
Black wheels don't look like anything in most pictures. I mean, you can't see the details very well. They look like a shapeless mass with no discernable features. Look at the pictures already posted. Chrome shows detail, flashes in the sun as they roll, and just look cool, in my humble opinion.
Painted silver wheels? Don't get me started. Every POS.... let me rephrase that, every generic car on every generic car lot has cheap painted silver wheels. I own one, not Corvette, just a beater. Not going there with my precious C7.
In the end, I'm pleased with my chrome wheels. And I sincerely hope every one of you is happy with what you chose to buy. Chrome, black, silver, machined face, what ever you have, if you love it then drive it with pride. Its all good.
PS... Sorry if I stepped on anyone's toes.

These are the wheels I have selected for my Torch Red Z06 that I will be purchasing soon. But this if for my taste and yours may vary. I have a Long Beach Red now and the Painted Aluminum Silver looked best to me for that color.

Great choice! I really like the painted redline in the groove of the wheel. It not only breaks up the black, but looks especially good with the red caliper and body color. Kinda reminds me too of the redline tires of the '60's.

I have three cars each with a different wheel option.
My Truck has polished aluminum
My Corvette has Chrome
My Sedan has painted aluminum
The Polished aluminum is my favorite.

As I've said before I like "polished aluminum" best but these silver metallic painted ones on my passenger car are nice also. Just can't see black.

Chrome, and I'm older so the metaphor holds true :> Black looks great standing still, but underway too often looks like an empty wheel well. Machined surface black, or black chrome is another story--with the right body color. My Torch Red '18 had the stock, Z51 silver and I think they look fine. Had chrome aftermarket wheels on my '13 and they looked terrific under almost any light condition. In the sun, flashing was out of sight. Still and all, black is in these days and you should get what appeals to you. If I were to get aftermarket wheels, black chrome would be a consideration. Touches all the bases.

I am a chrome wheel guy but polished is a fine look. The stock nickle pearl is a nice choice also. I bought aftermarket chrome ZO6 style wheels with all season tires and sensors for my 2015 Z51 for cold weather use. Put the original wheels and tires on for about a month this summer and removed them. Like the feel of the AS tires & look of the ZO6 wheels. I will probably keep them on all year. No knock on the Z51 tuning fork wheels. One of the nicest Corvette wheels ever IMHO.
About cleaning the chrome ZO6 wheels, they are not too difficult if you buy the proper products to get between the spokes. I have C6 ZR1 style wheels on my C5 and they look great also. When I get too lazy or physically unable to clean wheels or shift I will probably give up my Vettes.

I have the painted silver, and like them, although my tire/wheel guy is recommending a black chrome finish, which I think is awesome. He'll charge me $200/wheel to put the new finish on them, but given his high quality work it's worth it. Might do it, it is cool.
I don't like chrome wheels on any car, period. That goes double for sports cars. Enough said.
I also like Black finish, but it looks better on some cars than others. I think it looks especially good on a white car. Great contrast.

Does black paint cost more than silver? By my calculations GM made a extra net profit of $7,000,000 last year offering the black wheels @ a extra $500. per car. GM loves the black wheels that's for sure. I wonder if they are just a fad or will be out of favor in a few years.
Personally I don't want my women or cars to look mean or bad ***.Time will tell. Enjoy.
