Default Hood Stinger Stripe; OEM painted or decal?

Looking for a C7 to buy and I was wondering if the hood stinger stripe is painted on or a decal? I ask because I'd prefer the hood without it.
I think I saw there was a GM part number 23156109.

So if its a decal, can I take it off? Easy? Will the hood underneath the decal be painted like the rest of the hood if it is removed?

It’s a decal. Some have heated it up with a heat gun or hair dryer with success.
Yes the hood is painted underneath the decal.

It's sort of both. It is actually paint applied to a vinyl substrate. Yes, you can remove it. It is applied to a standard painted hood after vehicle assembly.

Its a decal. You can get those off with a cheap heat gun from harbor freight ($9). Just don't hold the gun in one spot for long time on high heat. You don't want to melt the clear coat and have runny spots.

Owners have painted them on so if you are buying used, be sure to ask. If someone, or dealer, doesn't know. Run your finger across the end of the stripe. If you feel an edge, its a sticker.

Leave car in sun for a little while and it should peel right off.

All C7 stripes are paint applied to vinyl decals.

So they have an edge like a decal, but the color depth is like paint. Which after seeing some other decals is a VERY noticeable difference.

I’ve peeled the OEM stripes off my 2014. Didn’t seem like paint to me. Just a vinyl decal like any other vinyl decal I’ve Installed. If it was painted the paint would crack when removed and stretched or crumpled. It doesn’t.

The red stripes are a metallic color. So if it's printed and not painted they did an excellent job getting flakes into the decal. The depth is not like any other vinyl I've seen.
