It uses the existing OEM's intake air draw path, but also adds another true cold air path to it via the low pressure zone draw from the hood. My understanding is bringing in this cooler air to supplement the existing path's air helps bring IAT's closer to ambient conditions much faster.

But it's not just that, they designed the intake tube (Venturi) precisely for optimal flow into the manifold through to the valves. You wouldn't believe the work that was put into designing this whole intake. Fluid dynamics galore.

YES ,the gains are for a stock un-tuned car. Heads /cam cars will gain substantially more power.

WE will have those out soon enough. They gain substantially more than an LT-1 car. There is also a bonus in added Boost and proper intercooling from the high pressure air inlet.

Are you working on one of these for the new Camaro?

Will you supply a full set of instructions with one?

Waiting on the first few of these to be user reviewed too see the feed back, been eager to see what VR had up their sleeves since I picked up my C7 a year ago.

Why wait, for 399 grab one and go. Not a huge believer in CAI but seems they have done thier homework here.

I am interested ... This CAI will work with OEM MAF and throw no CEL's with stock Tune correct?? I am not interested in tuning my C7 .. but hate the look of the stock intake and all the clutter it creates just to keep it quiet. Do you have a picture of where the factory emissions hoses plug into your CAI ?? Thanks ...

This System takes air from two locations . The OEM location and a high pressure area along the hood line gap. That gap feeds another 300CFM or so of much needed cool outside air.

Stock LT-1 .
VR techs personal car.
If you custom tuned it ,you could get another 8-10hp to the wheels over these base runs.

VR,

How does your product compare to AFE cold air intake? They advertise an 18 HP gain, a 318 cfm air flow, a 42% increase in air flow over stock, and a 22 ft/lbs increase in torque. And, it comes in a pretty blue color with a see through window.

So, just curious to know how your product is better? Much thanks.

Semper Fi

PS - when do you expect to get CA CARB certification?

The VR system uses airflow from a natural high-pressure zone that draws air from Outside the engine compartment. This helps dramatically, feeding cool air to the intake system, to help intercool the intake air charge. The OEM fender area is mostly hot air. Pulling from a small hole and the rear of the front fender back by the sump tank from under the hood! This has played havoc for Z-06 owners!
It is the only system to use a precision injection molded elliptical Airbox Tail and MAF block to ensure precise and consistent MAF sensor metering. Most others use Rotational molding and that is not a precise molding process when it comes to holding tolerances on bore ID ‘s.
Systems like that usually require custom tuning because no two kits are ever alike.
As for airflow, the VR flows far beyond the number you posted.
The VR system also uses venturi areas in the intake system to produce a velocity spike at a specific RPM point to force air into the intake system under vacuum! We went through allot of testing to make that happen. This shows up when we do flow bench testing as well at specific flow points. We did the same thing on the DRX Camaro system to boost power under the curve to great effect. We flow test through the cylinder head, intake manifold and throttle body as one unit. We also conduct a standard flow test but those types of tests never show you the true picture.
Our web guys will be putting up the flow graphs in the next few days, as well as a flow video.
The VR TCR-7 was meant from day one to be a tuned intake system, using every trick possible to boost flow and thermal efficiency with a minimum of extra components to add unnecessary extra cost. NO CORVETTE premium!
The philosophy was: Keep it simple and get the job done as efficiently as possible to make Vararam equipped C-7’s consistent and fast!

That is one heck of a Plastic Pipe ! FYI .. I have an order placed with Edgy to give it a try ... I've been looking at all the CAI 's .. primarily for aesthetics and sound ... The VR looks pretty good for cleaning up engine compartment .. I was also considering LMR and RAMAIR .. as well as the Billy Boat Carbon Fiber tube ... Seems like I will get the most bang for the buck with VR ...

Once we finish the C-7 Z-06 testing. The plan is to do both intakes.

Don't z06's have an intercooler for the supercharger? You are saying the air stays cooler because it's outside air that then can get cooled even more?

Can we buy this without the filter? I'd rathar use a non oil based media. Have you tested with the oem filter or another dry brand?
